Obama is just setting himself up for attacks like this
Edited on Fri Aug-19-11 09:05 AM by n2doc
This is a RW toon from Beck's site:

Now, doesn't Obama make it easier for the RW to attack him as being mean to seniors with his "shared sacrifice" talk? I fully expect to see a RW toon with unions being thrown under the bus sometime. Not good politics.

Remember, the truth means nothing. The RW loves to take some molehill of a soundbite or aspect of policy and turn it into a giant mountain. Worked for them in 2010.

1. Yes Beck cares so much about all those issues. And the Ryan Plan the Beck-types push is so wonderfu

"Shared Sacrifice" as I understand it means the RICH need to sacrifice too, not just the rest of us.

Lastly - Republican 101 = projection. They cccuse others of doing what they themselves are doing. The oldest trick in their disinformation toolkit.

Example: Remember when Cheney said Kerry had no strong moral sense and did not understand the difference between right and wrong? That describes Cheney to a T. Classic Republican projection.

5. I agree...
Truth means nothing to the RW & the cartoon is a perfect example.

Rachel Maddow last night, speaking about RW hypocracy.. sounded almost despairing.

Thank you, n2doc, for posting all the toons..

6. Pres. Obama taking a breath is reason enough for many people
to attack him.-

It saddens me that this is as prevelant among Democrats as it is.

He can't say "hello" without it being offensive to someone, and reason to mock him.

8. Bullcrap and you know it
He ain't "just saying hello" He is advocating for cuts to popular programs.

There are lots of unfair criticisms of Obama. But he has set himself up for this one with his advocacy of massive spending cuts. It seems to be one thing he is passionate about.

13. no, I don't "know it" and neither do you
obviously.

Do you actually believe there is NO need or reason to reduce federal spending ? I'm frustrated beyond words by the fact that we aren't able to increase revenue by raising taxes, but to pretend that we don't need to find ways to reduce our spending is foolishness.

Much is said about cuts to popular programs- little is really known. I don't see him as "advocating" for cuts, but as trying to minimize the damage that will be done by the unavoidable cuts.

10. And yet you would be the first to say that my, or anyone else's posts on DU
Mean nothing in the real world. What's it going to be, Am I powerless or powerful? Just let me know!

So far as I can tell the operating principle of Obama supporters is to put their heads firmly in the sand, except to complain about anyone who dares to complain about their leader.

11. Here, let me quote
Krugman: "Oh, and for all those older Americans who voted GOP last year because those nasty Democrats were going to cut Medicare, I have just one word: suckers!"

Yeah, I remember all the bullshit commentary about the Democrats having cut Medicare. It's no more true now as it was then, and bullshit speculation doesn't count.

12. Yes they were suckers
Do you honestly think giving the RW quotes and evidence that Obama wants them to sacrifice is going to help his campaign? Or do you just think it all doesn't matter, because the RW will make shit up if it doesn't have anything real to go by. Politically, the HCR was a disaster for the Democrats in 2010, which meant that it was a disaster for America. I don't want the Debt reduction crap to be the similar tool to lead to a greater disaster in 2012. Not that I have any say so in the matter, of course.
