They don't really care about education one way or another. They're just after the huge amounts of money that are spent on public education.

3. The irony

Opponents of the busing policy say that it is disruptive to students' education by making them travel long distances to school, etc. Yet, but adopting this phase-out plan, won't the effect be that many students will be yanked out of their schools and transplanted into a new school with new teachers, new schoolmate, etc. Is not that disruptive to a child's education?

These people want to end public education, they don't want to end the government PAYING for education. It's just like every other privatization plan; at its core is the realization that the government has access to A LOT of money. They want it.

for three (+?) reasons:

Parents have a biblical obligation to see to the training and teaching of their children.
Schools are factories for liberal indoctrination.
Homeschooling usually keeps women out of the workforce.

These people are out there, and they are influencing policy in the republican party.
