Fox News host booed at Republican presidential debate
Fox News host booed at Republican presidential debate
Posted on 08.11.11
By David Edwards

It may not be clear which candidate won the Republican presidential candidate in Iowa Thursday, but Fox News host Chris Wallace might be the obvious loser.

Wallace found himself being booed by a crowd that didn’t appreciate the relatively tough questions he posed to Newt Gingrich.

“Speaker Gingrich, one of the ways we judge a candidate is the campaign they run,” Wallace explained. “In June, your entire staff resigned along with your staff here in Iowa. They said you were undisciplined in campaigning and fundraising. Last report you were a million dollars in debt. How do you respond to people who say that your campaign has been a mess so far?”

“I wish you would put aside the gotcha questions,” Gingrich shot back as the audience booed Wallace. “I would love to see the rest of tonight’s debate asking us what we would do to lead an America whose president has failed to lead, instead of playing Mickey Mouse games.”

1. Puh-lease. That was hardly a 'gotcha' question
Edited on Fri Aug-12-11 09:37 AM by SpiralHawk
It was much more of a "what in the name of Jumpin Judas Priest is a Republicon ass-clown gay-divorcee rank-hypocrite chickenhawk whiney dweeb loser FAIL Freak like you still doing infesting the republicon primary cesspool?" type question.

7. All questions are "gotcha questions" to these guys.
All they know how to do is spin and LIE.

13. It's all theater for the sake of their public. They get them riled up enough to scare the
journalists out of asking real questions. (And I was, in fact, surprised Chris Wallace of all people wasn't lobbing softballs for the GOP.)

3. That is an uncomfortable question
Edited on Fri Aug-12-11 09:48 AM by Renew Deal
The question is whether the last part makes a statement or is it a question? "How do you respond to people who say that your campaign has been a mess so far?”

Is Wallace trying to spread a message? Could he have asked the question a different way?

11. A different way: Your staff all quit because they don't trust you. Why...
Edited on Fri Aug-12-11 09:47 AM by SpiralHawk
shouldn't the American voters -- who know far less about who you really are -- mistrust you also?

You are, after all Mr. Gingrich, a Republicon. Honorable American citizens are, alas, well aware of what that means.

5. That crowd doesn't like relevancy.
Chris shoulda asked him what made Saint Ronnie so great. That woulda been a crowd pleaser.

6. In an election that is going to be about the economy...
and how they would manage money, it was a fair question.

Of course, they will never give a factual answer, "I'm gong to reapportion wealth from the poor and middle class and give it to corporate ass-clowns."

9. We need to push back against them controlling debates like this.
if we do it now, in their debates, they wont be able to do that once there is a Pug nominee

10. Don't threaten a Republican's fantasies.
If you keep doing it, they get all murdery and stuff.

14. STFU Newt

Every question can be addressed by a clever, smart, shrewd person...in fact, if you can't answer tough (or even UNFAIR) questions, then you have no business being President. So STFU Newt and go away you phony.
