1. And somehow I doubt McConnell will put Scott Brown or Olympia Snowe or Susan Collins on
No, they pick three Southern good old boys. Count on it.

2. Murray was on camera a lot during this fiasco, so I'm not
surprised to see she was chosen. She's one of my Senators, and of the two, I'd much prefer her over Cantwell, but I'm not jumping up and down thrilled like I would be with a rip-roaring Progressive.

How do you think Kerry will do?

And polichick posted a quote by Baucus saying something about some plan "shredding" Medicare/SS, so that may by construed as hopeful?

6. I'm not sure if that's a factor or not. He's been married to
her for quite some time and he's still pretty liberal.

Although when it comes to "taxing the rich"... -- but who knows?

I think we could have done better, but we could have done worse, too. I wonder how Reid made his choices.

10. Kerry is too conciliatory.
He is on the committee to give the bad news to liberals. He is liked by liberals but way too weak to actually defend Social Security or Medicare or other important programs -- a nice man but no fighter.

7. Kerry is ok. But Baucus?? Please....
He helped scuttle the public option and single payer. Murray won't be as strong as who the Repukes put in. And unlike Gore, who has gotten more progressive with time, Kerry may have gotten a little less.

11. It's a weak team on the Democratic side in my opinion, really weak.

14. Well there you have it.
The fix is in. Baucus shouldn't be anywhere near this committee. This is going to end up in tax cuts for corporations and the rich and cuts in entitlements and social programs for everyone else.
