Tim DeChristopher Goes To Jail For Trying To Save Our World
Source: MoveOn.org

In 2008, toward the end of the Bush presidency, climate activist Tim DeChristopher tried to derail a Bureau of Land Management auction of public land that had been organized as a last-minute gift to the oil and gas industry. Last month, he was sentenced to two years in prison. Watch his rallying cry from outside the courtroom:

1. This is such a travesty ...
The main thrust of his actions obviously and clearly involved his attempt to protect that precious land from unnecessary and horrible irrevocable maiming and destruction. I'll be sure to donate to his appeal.

2. This country is becoming more upside down by the day.
What a message this sends. Try to protect the environment and you go to prison while creatures like Don Blankenship and other corporate polluters and murderers receive bonuses.

This is seriously screwed up.

3. And that is very typical of our world, isn't it?

That is why we're in this handbasket on the fast train to Hell (or whatever you consider the worst place to be as a nation). We cheer the biggest criminals, give them free passes and all the money and power they can get away with having -- and anyone who dares try to save us from them - or even from ourselves as we support them (willingly or otherwise) - is imprisoned, shunned, made a pariah.

Seems typical to me. I'm not religious but you know the old saying about 'if Jesus Christ came back, they'd just crucify him again'....they/we would. Because -- we're (as a society collectively) that dumb. The 'owners' make sure that's how it goes down - that's how it's operated. Unless someone stops them, it'll continue.

4. He is a hero and he did, in fact, stop an illegal sale.
