Congress ends the Page Program.

Speaker John Boehner and Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi announced Monday that the House will end the page program.



A storied tradition that brings young people to work in the Capitol, the page program has been around nearly as long as Congress itself.



But it has also been the source of sex scandals involving Members of Congress and is expensive — costing $5 million a year, or about $69,000 to $80,000 per page.



And, with the advent of email, some say it is no longer necessary.

I think it's sad that they're ending this program. They say it's expensive, but 45 MM a year is a pitance in the grand sceme of things, and it enables a lot of young people to learn the inner working of this gov't insanity first hand.
