Well, this isn't going to be our century.
That's about all I've got this morning. We had a good run; but we've definitively lost our economic dominance, which means a shitload more in today's brave new world than military dominance ever will. Domestically, our economy will probably remain a shambles for some time to come.

I'm so glad we killed ourselves doing that debt ceiling bill. Seeing as we got our credit downgraded anyway, and now we are locked into doing more bogus financial 'reform' that will only make matters worse. And seeing as even the stock market hates it. And how fun that we are now in the position of being publicly rebuked by China for our fiscal irresponsibility. How awesome it will be, in the coming years, as we really find out what it means to be pwned.

Thanks, Tea Party. I hope you all enjoy living in a former world power just about as much as I expect you will.

@#$!,

1. Yes, the term, and philosophy of "American Exceptionalism"

rings pretty hollow doesn't it? Of course the folks that spew that nonsense only know how to point fingers and lay blame.

2. That's how I pretty much see it. We had a good run of it and the wisdom that
once guided this country is being drained by teabagger types, bigotry and hatefulness. True the wisdom of the past was not perfect, and many were repressed and suffered, but not like it will be in the 21st century if this continues.

I sadly see America in the 21st century as being a pretty creepy place if this continues with most rather saying they are away from America. God knows what the 2012 elections will bring, but if the republican candidates are any hint of our future America will be one freak show.

3. I think you may be jumping the gun a bit.
First off, the century just started, and we're still in the process of cleaning up the wreckage from the past 30 years. Contrary to popular belief, we do have lots of people in power who want to get this done, cleanly.

Secondly, the Teafuckers are going down next year, and I think they know it. It was a two-year experiment gone horribly wrong.

Thirdly, China is on the brink of imploding. I think the population is just about to rise up, it's reaching critical mass as we type.

I believe we have just enough smart people in the country to keep the decline in check and eventually reverse it. I'm not downgrading all of humanity yet.

5. It's depressing these days, but I agree with you
Or maybe I just can't bring myself to concede defeat.

Whatever, hope remains, however much in tatters it may be in at the moment.

4. To be fair, it's partially our fault for not putting a firm stop to the bastards.
An ass-kicking in time saves nine, or something like that.

8. Our century? Hell, is it even going to be our country?
The Tea Party Traitors, their funders, their GOP co-conspirators, and all-too-many Dem enablers have a lot to answer for.
