Back during the Iranian hostage crisis I remember a radio talk show discussing the situation. One of the speakers opined that in legalese it could be termed a case of ochlotheocratic androlepsis, religion-based mob-rule with illegal seizure of people.

So what the hell legal term would serve to adequately describe what the republicans have pulled with our debt situation?

Any ideas?
