Is this true? How is the govt still spending money if no budget has been passed and signed?

3. I heard a stone right winger say that last week so it must be one of their
talking points. The way he said it was the Democrats haven't passed a budget in 2 years or some such date.

Then I googled that phrase and ran across a response from Durbin to the effect that in the last 2 years the House has only had 60 votes - in the minority and the rethugs filabustered them on everything they tried to do.

4. Continuing resolutions
Last time they used it to push the bush tax cuts on to the end of 2012. But I expect the next time these come up we will essentially shut down.

5. Record number of filibusters...
And as we all know, elections have consequences, but only when Republicans win. What did "the people say" when they put the Democrats in power in the House, the Senate, and the White House in 2008? I guess they didn't really say anything until they put the Repubs in charge of the House in 2010, right?

6. It's true, in this sense...

Well, Lindsey Graham said 832 days, but anyway...

They've been passing Continuing Resolutions (CRs) for a couple of years now, meaning that they continue the previous budget without changes

9. Not even when the Dems controlled the House, the Senate, AND
the White House.

If there is no budget, then they don't have to live within one. Just have Continuing Resolutions and keep spending money that isn't theirs. Since it isn't theirs, they really don't give a rat's ass how it affects the rest of the country.

Their theme could be "Of all the words so big and fine, the best are these 'I got mine.'"
