Dirty Tricks in WI Worse Than Previously Reported

Dirty Koch Tricks in WI: Deceptive Absentee Ballot Mailers Appear to be Coordinated Hoaxes
Several RW groups cooperate on fraudulent recall scams
PLUS: Election Integrity volunteer needed in WI...

No doubt by now you've heard of the deceptive absentee ballot applications mailed to Democrats in Wisconsin by David Koch's Americans for Prosperity, WI, as reported earlier this week by David Catanese at Politico.

The wrong date on the mailing, however, was not the only problem with it. The address where the application was to be submitted is also a problem, but one that is worse than has been widely reported so far, according to some digging from a Wisconsin activist and election integrity advocate.

Moreover, a comparison to another absentee ballot application mailer from a different, supposedly unrelated, Rightwing group, suggests a coordinated effort by a number of these groups to defraud and disenfranchise voters in Wisconsin in advance of the unprecedented state Senate recall elections to be held next Tuesday...

That the fraudulent ballots are just the beginning of what the Republicans are doing. Seems they are bringing in a bunch of people from out of state and pulling out all of the stops to defeat this recall effort. On the upside I suppose this means we have them scared.

Wisconsinites, stay vigilant.

7. Yeah, I think you got that right
With everything that is going on I am looking for a real bumpy ride to the election. This is one of the most vile political environments I have ever seen.

4. People should call the Postal Inspector when they get a fake ballot
Mail fraud is a Federal Crime, with stiff consequences.

We're on this. If anyone wants to help, PM me.

DPW filed a complaint on these mailers last week.

10. Only close elections may be stolen. A massive voter turnout on election day
will overwhelm any dirty tricks. On election day we need smart and savvy people watching the polls, including as many lawyers and legal people as possible.

This time, no satisfaction with a 40% turnout. All Democrats vote, no excuses--it's way, way too important. There are thousands of not only independent voters but Republicans as well who will join us. We need to get out the vote like there is no tomorrow, for there is not.

If these recalls do not succeed there will be hell to pay for those of us still standing here in Wisconsin. We are truly on our way to becoming the Mississippi of the North.

12. Wrong
While I appreciate your GOTV efforts here, your statement that "only close elections may be stolen" is completely incorrect -- particularly in WI where not a single ballot is checked by hand after being scanned by the computers. Whatever the computers tell you, programmed by folks like our friend Kathy Nickolaus of Waukesha, will be the results, whether you like 'em or not.

If I was gaming the system, I'd make sure to do so in such a way that nobody even considers the election to be "close" so nobody does anything pesky like demand a recount.

13. Well it's a damn good thing we had a recount and even better that we're very closely observing the
polls now! It's great to work with such an amazing group of dedicated people who are watching their every move.

15. Close observation by competent and savvy people is vital as well at the involvement of
as many attorneys and legal minds we can muster on election day.

14. Believe what you like. I still say after living here for over 50 years that the close elections
are those at risk. Not all of Wisconsin is Waukesha County and it is a mistake to assume so.

17. And I can confirm that Waukesha County is, in fact, very red
With or without our current clerk. But we also have the third most number of Democrats in the state. And we're all busting ass to get out the vote and watch the elections.

I think we will have a great voter turnout here, great for any election, not just a special election.

in one municipality. One clerk cannot manipulate all of these races... and honestly, not even the one. That district goes into Milwaukee and Washington Counties as well.

24. Republicans -- and their masters -- have known for YEARS,
possibly decades, that their days are numbered. Demographically, philosophically, and every other way, the population of this country is shifting to benefit Democrats. I already posted (elsewhere) a long list of articles validating that this nation IS liberal, at core, and that isn't going to change. In addition, Hispanics are growing in numbers by leaps and bounds -- that's well documented too.

What it comes down to is this: they have no choice but to TRY to come up with ways to make sure they survive politically, pretty much by any means necessary. It has included:

* lying about who they are (stealth candidates) and what they're up to (their agenda);
* attaching Orwellian titles (more lies) on their anti-everybody-and-everything-but-corporations legislation;
* wedge politics in preparation for elections;
* promoting the most outrageous lies about their electoral opponents;
* running as stealth candidates in the OTHER party (IOW, as Dems);
* vigorously pursuing every kind and style of voter suppression you can imagine and coming up with many new ways to screw over the voter;
* engaging in outright election fraud whenever possible (including rigged electronic machines);

and when all else fails --

* relying on friendly courts.
