Wow, Rick Perry and his Prayer meeting. Isn't it obvious prayer does not work too well!

If God needs you to ask him for help when you need it, then I do not think God is a very kind or intelligent entity!

I can understand prayer making the prayer feel better, but I certainly hope that if there is a God, he knows I need help before I do.

9. Perry will drink urine.
It's supposed to be recycled to extract any usable water, but he won't have any of that.

2. That's not what prayer is about.
I'm hardly a fundamentalist, and I get as exasperated as anyone (maybe more) at the ridiculousness of right wing 'Christians'.

But, prayer is not about asking God for help, it is more like asking for the understanding to know what to do in a particular situation.

That said I would avoid any prayer meeting held by Rick Perry, Hagee, and the like, and have avoided knowing anything about this particular one, so who knows. But knowing a couple fundamentalists, I think they would agree with my statement above, even if we don't agree on much of anything else.

4. On second thought, having just encountered another thread ...
that links to the actual thing ... I wouldn't click it but read some of the comments ... it sounds like their 'prayer meeting' isn't about real prayer at all, just a political event (as I suspected).

6. I cannot think of any prayer that anyone would say that would make sense....
if you assume God is all knowing.

"God, help me deal with this." should not be needed.

"God, cure my cancer." Should not be needed.

"God, help me cope with my mother dying." Should not be needed.

God should know that already.

If you have an example let me know.

8. I thought with the temps so high
the prayer meeting would end with a few soot marks left as evidence so many hateful people gathered there.

11. What Jesus said
“Whenever you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, because they love to pray while standing in synagogues and on street corners so that people can see them. Truly I say to you, they have their reward. But whenever you pray, go into your room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret. And your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you” (Matthew 6:5-6).
