No matter what you may think of President Obama...
We only have two choices:

We can fight or we can surrender.

There is no third way.

3. Maybe Obama will weaken in the polls to such a point that
we're all told it's cool to vote for a Republican-primary-loser-turned-"Independent" instead of the nominated Dem.

6. No, You are wrong.
No matter if we vote for Obama or not, we have to fight these folks that don't care if you live or die. They don't care if you have Medicare or not. They don't care if you have a job. They don't care if there is no more Social Security. They are enemies of the people. It is more than "just politics". They are a threat to us all.

2. but honestly...WHO are we fighting?
I stand for strong Democratic ideals. Anything less than THAT is a loss in my book...yet, both parties offer two sides of the same coin.

7. There IS a Third Way and that is the problem.
It has infiltrated the Democratic Party and the President supports that ideology. When you understand that, his leaning to the right and not fighting for Democratic principles makes sense.

8. I'm very disappointed in the president's performance but I'll tell you this
The more he gets attacked by the wing nuts in the republican tea bag party, cable TV and on hate radio, the better I like him.

Like when you were a kid and used to beat up on your little brother. Until some other kid started to whomp on him then you defended him.

At the end of Clinton's term, the only reason I still supported him was that the lunatic fringe despised him.

I'm starting to feel that way about Obama.

12. There is a third choice-- it's focussing on state and local fights.
Edited on Wed Aug-03-11 04:41 PM by Marr
I think all this energy spent focusing on the presidency is wasted effort.

It seems to me the game is pretty thoroughly rigged at the top, and solutions aren't going to be implemented from the top down. Liberals are better off directing their energies on the local and state level right now, building the sort of broad movement it will take to drain the swamp that is the national game.

I've been volunteering locally for the last several years, and my belief in that approach has only been strengthened as I've watched the continual con games that come out of the political system on the national level. So no, I'm not going to "fight" for some corporate tool like Barack Obama. If he sinks, he sinks. My energies are better spent elsewhere.

13. Not voting?
If Gabby Giffords can come in and vote after what happened to her,
there should be no reason for everyone else eligible to vote
in this country to do the same.

16. Who said anything about not voting?
I'm saying that my volunteering has more of an effect than a my single vote, and I don't intend to waste my time working for Barack Obama. I'll give those energies to local and state candidates.

15. And Obama has selected the second way.
So now it must be that we have to fight him.
