This idea and then the manifestation of a Super Committee to solve all the

problems shows us just how dysfunctional our partisan approach to politics has become.

I can remember when Tip O'Neill and Ronald Reagan could get together and give a little take a little to hammer out an agreement.

Now that the "boomers", my generation, are firmly in power, it's a my way or the highway approach from at least a good part of the right.

There are few people outside of marginalized liberals on the "left" who hold this approach to politics as we just saw in their recent capitulation. (Dare I compare the GOP to crying and fussing children in a restaurant?)

I don't know about you but this idea of a super committee frightens me to no end.

It's basically saying that the congress we have has given up and are willing to turn over responsibility to this so-called super committee. It gives these cowards a place to put the blame for anything that goes wrong.

"Hey, I would have wanted it another way but you know that Super committee, eye roll here, those schmucks just don't get it. But my hands were tied, What could I do..."

This crap is dangerous and marginalizes the people even more.

I don't like it, I am really upset that our leadership agreed to such a gimmick and I am about this close to crawling into my hole and become a misanthrope.

Shit, why don't they just call out the superfriens while they are at it...

2. This scares me as well...
Just what we need: Concentrated power in the hands of the very few.

What could possibly go wrong?

Right.

Recommended.

4. Me too...me too
because they aren't there to negotiate, they aren't there to compromise...they are there to hold the country hostage until they bleed every last thing that we hold dear. Mitch McConnell has already said as much. We ALL know that they won't bend...we'd have a better chance of building a snowman in the Sahara desert than to have one of them cross over and compromise. It will be a simple majority vote...it will only take ONE Democrat to cross the line for us to lose EVERYTHING...and we certainly don't stand a chance in hell of gaining anything which is WHY this was so fucking stupid to agree to.

And the folks that are saying they won't let the trigger hit the military? Oh fuck yeah, they will...in the form of pay, medical care, housing allowance cuts to the TROOPS...BUT...the one sure bet thing that will play all fucking year for elections from the dogcatcher on up...is...that DEMOCRATS do NOT support the troops. We are in a completely NO WIN situation here. There will be no victories for the poor and middle class Americans.

Dlealing with these people is like dealing with Satan himself. They want the SOUL of the Democratic Party--and deep down inside in places we don't acknowledge, we know that they will get it.
