Cell phone question...
just bought a cheapie Samsung because my cell phone died, apparently from humidity and sweat. I bought it in December 2010 and AT&T will not honor the warranty. :grr:

Anyhow, there's a film over the main window that displays "Texting and driving...it can wait" and obscures the window. Any ideas on how to get rid of that short of getting a straight razor and getting it off that way? It's driving me crazy and I can't see what I'm doing.

Thanks for any input.

:D

1. Won't it just lift at a corner and peel off?

2. is it just a sticker like they put on the window to protect it? you should just be able to pull it
up at the corner if that is the case.

10. It covers the whole window and there are no obvious places to
yank to get rid of the sucker.

3. Those film peel off easily IF you can find which corner to grab.
Failing that, try scotch tape. Apply near the edge of the screen, then lift off. It should take the film with it.

4. A straight razor may be the way to go.
Follow up with some Goo Gone if you need to.

5. Most likely a factory sticker, try lifting a corner of it with a toothpick and peel at a sharp angle
Hope this helps!

6. Press a piece of tape over it, corner to corner. Rub down firmly. Pull up slowly.
As you pull the tape up, it should catch the edge of the film and bring it up from the phone.

Do NOT use a razor, knive, or other sharp metal object.

PLS let us know what ends up working!

7. Thanks, everyone, but there is no obvious way or flap to just
pull this off. I even tried a seam ripper, but thought better of it after a few strokes. Sigh. I guess there's another trip to WallyWorld in my future.

9. I just got that phone ... I'll bet it's a Strive.
That sticker, and all the other plastic film on the edges and back of the phone are just held on w/ a static charge (I think). Anyhow, there's no glue involved. Just find the edge, pick it up with your fingernail, and it peels off easily. It's the same film that you can buy as a screen protector (no lettering on it, obviously).

Other than that, how do you like the phone? I found some major annoyances initially, but once I figured out how to get around the limitations, it's not too bad. You can get around a lot of the menu digging with voice command, for example, and you can assign quite a few tasks (like actuating voice command) to the D-ring on the front of the unit ... assuming it's a Strive, of course.

11. Not a Strive, just a Go phone, recommended by the AT&T person
when I was told the warranty was not going to be honored. I'm still angry. :nuke:

12. But I'll bet it's the same sort of film as on my phone.
I had the same "screen protector," with the same message about texting and driving. Really ... just find the edge and it lifts off with almost no effort, and no residue left behind. I guess it can be a little bit of a pain to find the edge, but keep picking w/ your fingernail. You will find it. The edge may not be exactly at the edge of your visible screen ... could be wider, for example.

13. I just dug out the film that was on my phone.
Mine was about 1 3/4" X 2 3/4" ... quite a bit wider than the visible screen. It came not quite to the edge of the phone. It can be hard to see the edge when it's on the phone, but you can feel it. I just put mine back on the phone to check that out.

Let me know how it goes ... I'm sure yours is the same as mine if it's from Samsung.

around the edges. Thanks, rog, and everyone!!!

17. Great!
Now you can deal with the other annoyances. I wasted a whole day with my new Samsung a couple of days ago. Good luck.
