Never thought I'd be saying this as a diehard pacifist, but there you have it. Also, I'm almost a new mommy so maybe that's the protective, ("mama grizzly", lol) hormones speaking. My heart goes out to that poor little girl's family. :(

10. That has often been a though of mine.

A show of arms may be an act of deterrence for the cowards on the far Reich. Many times they bluster about how we are easily plucked due to being soft and unarmed.

Bullies tend to pick on who they perceive to be the easiest targets. I think the ties to pacifism provoke them to a degree. They believe we can be cowed and sense the effect the murders of MLK and RFK had on our collective will. They know a number laid down the cross and joined the game.

The Reich knows from decades of experience that we roll for violence and give in to threats politically. They have zero incentive to change their behavior because it is obvious that if they just relentlessly keep pressing and keep ratcheting up their response that they will slowly but surely not only get their way on most matters but always be in a position to demand more no matter how absurd they get.

Never hatred, and never guns. Most of us there hate guns.
