Obama is going off on congress' inaction on the debt ceiling.

And let me be the first to applaud it. What he's saying right now qualifies as a rant- and a long overdue one. He's clearly not trying to "spook" anyone, he even said it himself at least once during his answer...but he did mention that in a situation in which the US defaults, the consequences would be "significant and unpredictable". That's about the non-spookiest way you can put the world we get into if we default.

We really don't wanna find out what "significant and unpredictable" consequences might befall the country/dollar/economy if we default. Let that box be forever unopened.

1. Loved that line about Malia and Sasha.
Malia is 13 and Sasha is 10.
Most of the time, they get their homework done a day ahead of time.
They don't wait until the last minute, they ain't going to be up pulling any all nighters.
Let's get it done now, why wait until the last minute?

2. Applause from me, too. I thought that was just the sort of blunt, no-excuses talk...
... we need to hear from Pres. Obama.

Not a rant in the old sense of the word, which sort of implied waving arms and bugged-out eyes. but a strong dose of righteous truth.

:applause:

3. He made an excellent point about "leadership"
HE has been doing his job. Congressional "leaders" have not.

As he said: THEY HAVE TO DO THEIR JOBS. Why the stall tactics of Congress are laid at the President's door is beyond me. They're the ones holding up the process; people need to stop sending these clowns to Washington if they want to see something done.

4. I'm waiting to see what happens before I applaud anything
he still refused to say that he would stand firmly on tax increases while he said democrats must accept painful spending cuts.

5. Well, it's not like we'll have all that long to find out, at least.
August 2nd, or thereabouts.

6. Yup, hopefully much sooner than that.
To his credit Obama seemed to be firm about saying this needs to be resolved long before August 2nd.

7. Agreed, but I think the Repigs....how could they not?!...are going to drag this shit out as....
...long as possible. They no-longer even represent conservative constituents. It's multinationals and multinationals don't give much of a shit about anything but themselves.

So I'm not expecting this to get resolved anytime soon.

10. You're probably right
but if Obama went out there and started cracking heads this could probably be resolved sooner. Dragging this out until August will be bad news for the left.

I do have a feeling wall street will start freaking out if this gets anywhere near the deadline, as a result the republicans might fall in line.

9. So he blamed congress, not the GOP? Is this another missed opportunity ...
... to sell Democrats over Republicans?
