Clarence Thomas Must Go - my argument
Edited on Thu Jun-23-11 03:30 PM by WilliamPitt
Ethics is knowing the difference between what you have a right to do and what is right to do.

- Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart

I report, you decide.

1. Clarence Thomas never should have been installed in the first place.

He was lying in his hearing even before Anita Hill showed up.

Somehow the NAACP just couldn't believe that a lawyer, someone heading up the EEOC would never have, in their entire career or education, discussed Brown v Board of Education. Never, he said. Riiiiiggggghhhhht.

6. He has served them well.
Why do you install a doorstop?

To stop the door.

'Nuff said.

11. Joe Biden put him on the court.
The vote in the Judiciary committee was 7-7 and Biden as chair sent the nomination to the Senate without a recommendation. That was the first time in history that a supreme court nomination went to the floor without a recommendation.

7. Will - A question for you, please.
Will -

Why do so many articles, including yours, fail to point out the fact that Clarence Thomas is guilty not only of ethical lapses, but of federal crimes for which he may be Indicted, arrested, tried and imprisoned for five or more years. Thomas violated 5 USC App. 104, False Statement, at least five times. That carries a term of imprisonment of one year and a $50,000 fine for each count.

Why isn't that being pointed out? He can be effectively removed immediately. Indict Clarence Thomas. He's not the type who is likely to be shamed into resignation, but Indictment will get him of the bench.

People need to be informed that sitting federal Judges can be Indicted, tried and put in jail when they violate criminal statutes, just like everyone else. Whether the House of Representatives ends up Impeaching him is almost beside the point if he's sitting in jail for five years. He'll never hear another case. But, first, Eric Holder needs to Indict Clarence Thomas.

He's such a proud whore...come one, come all, the Gangbang King awaits your ministrations...insert money here. Exit promptly when completed. Thank you, come again and please tell your friends.

Unfortunately he's using our Supreme Court for his brothel.

14. That's saying it, my dear Kurovski!
A perfect metaphor for what's going on with Thomas.

I wish I could recommend your post.

19. Keep The Light Shining...
The evidence is overwhelming but the SCOTUS makes up its own rules, but I can't think of any Justice that has come close to Clarence in conflict of interest and unethical behavior.

Unfortunately we know there's no way he'll be impeached. Even with a massive Democratic wave next year to retake the House and add in the Senate, there's still not nor will there be the 67 to convict. Even if Thomas is shown to eat babies on leave teevee the GOTB will not vote to convict one of their own.

The best hopes are to embarass and harass him publicly...keep his conflicts out there and force him and his wife to address them. Maybe, just maybe, he will recuse himself from cases or the negative publicity will push the other justices into pushing him to do so.

Cheers...

call for his resignation or impeachment?

Great read BTW.
