Piece of mail ignites at US Mail processing center in DC
Edited on Fri Jan-07-11 04:26 PM by nadinbrzezinski
breaking on MSNBC.

Folks this is following yesterday's bombs. Somebody is now using the postal service, and I doubt that is AQ by the by.

1. AQ?
Aside from being my initials, what does it mean?

Signed, Perpetually out of the loop.

3. DHS angling for more power probably
or a bigger budget

I no longer believe there are any actual terrorists not sponsored in some way by one of our security agencies. Too many "coincidences".

10. Nah there are actual terrorists in the world
they mostly are annoying, but this I am betting it is quite internal thank you very much...

And that is the reason why the story will disappear. Internal threats are mostly ignored... well not ignored, but not put up by the media.

12. I have gotten cynical enough
that I truly believe there are people in our security agencies who would deliberately cause a problem in order to get the money and power that comes with "solving" it.

It's not like it hasn't happened before, and I have zero trust left.

16. I understand but the weathermen were real
so are the militias.

Those are the ones I am thinking as internal terror, right now MILITIAS... RW militias... same shit happened under clinton until OKC, which in the beginning we had people screaming it had to be them arabs... it wasn't... but once that was obvious, it was very much down played. I am expecting the same.

7. Could it just have been the machine?
I once received a piece of mail in a plastic baggie envelope from USPS with an apology for its condition, because it apparently had caught fire when going through one of the scanners in the post-anthrax scare era. When I opened the bag, the mail (which was wet) still smelled like smoke.

9. Well, I'm going to take all that sympathy/empathy that some DUers
have heaped on TSA and extend them, instead to the USPS workers. I hope they are not injured by this crap.

14. My Dad was a Postal worker by night,
and in the back of his mind, he always wondered why this didn't happen MORE often.

He sorted the mail outbound from Philadelphia to Texas' sectional centers before the machines came along.

Lots of stories of suspicious packages...

I sincerely hope no one was, or will be, hurt.
