Just what the heck is going on?

Is the administration in violation of the War Powers Resolution of 1973 requiring a congressional authorization of action in Libya?

1. It is hard to see how they would not be. The only way
is that there is no war in Libya or US is not involved in it. That seems to be the tack Obama is taking. Can he really get away
with such obvious bull? I am curious to find out.

2. 5th thread on this topic. Anyway, congress is the one violating the War Powers Resolution.
As congress failed from the start to set up a committee to determine what to do about it. The War Powers Resolution has very specific deadlines that congress must meet. Congress did not do it even though Obama sent them a letter indicating that he was attacking another country. After Operation Odyssey Dawn was done in 12 days the War Powers Resolution no longer was being invoked by the President.

3. Libya poses a major threat to ......well ....somewhere....maybe ...Strawberry Point, Iowa?
Anyway, we really, really, have to worry about some threat that Libya poses to us.

“The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.” H.L. Mencken

4. Going to war is a big deal: Constitution slowly becoming meaningless?
It's not just this Libya war; its Iraq, Afghanistan, the Patriot Act, and even the non-enforcement of the Sherman Anti-trust laws.

Oh, and don't forget you will be losing your right to collective bargaining. Welcome to fascism. See the cross and the flag leading the way!

5. The action in Libya is a NATO action, not a US action

When we signed on as a member of NATO, we made it legally OK to participate in NATO military actions without consulting congress.

Congress signed off on the NATO charter.

It may not be right... but Obama is legally correct in his argument.

6. I suffered from that same delusion but it turns out the treaty isn't self executing
in wars and that each nation must follow its own laws to participate in such actions.

No NATO country was attacked.
