Obama appoints William Daley. Finally someone in the Obama administration with Wall Street ties!
It's about time. And Daley is also a devoted patriot! What more could we hope for? BBI

----------------------------------------------

President Barack Obama is hiring William Daley to be his chief of staff, choosing a veteran political manager with Wall Street ties to direct an operation now steaming toward re-election mode.

"He will bring his tremendous experience to the White House" said Obama, officially announcing his decision Thursday. The president called Daley a "devoted patriot."

Rahm Emanuel to William Daley, from the pot into the frying pan. Change we can believe in. BBI

1. Excellent! This must be the super-level chess endgame we've been waiting for, and it signals the
beginning of the end of the setup, right? Now things will start falling into place! The sun will rise and the Republicans and corporatists will be devastated when they see how cruelly and cunningly they've been outplayed! Right? RIGHT?

3. This appointment should help President Obama to raise some very big Wall Street re-election bucks.

Should he decide to run for a second term.

So who needs Main Street when you've got Wall Street funding your career?

Wall Street has been so under-represented. It's about time the corporatocrasy had some friendlies in there. :sarcasm:

Go ahead, sucker.

11. Thanks. Not sure I've been called a sucker before. What he does NOW matters
more to US than what he did in his past.

I've done plenty of things in my past that would have no relation or impact on what I do today.

I have the feeling that you didn't have the power of Daley and that your actions did not impact the lives of millions.

Have you worked on Wall Street?

24. I wasn't comparing myself to Daley, per se, just saying that what a person does
in the past doesn't necessarily foretell what s/he will do in the future. A human being comparison, not an "I can speak for Daley because I'm as powerful as he" statement. I'm actually surprised you took it that way.

12. Okay - so what are you going to do about it? I don't understand the waste of
energy at being angry/frustrated - how does that help us now or in the future?

I hold Clinton responsible for NAFTA - wasn't Daley just doing what Clinton directed? Serious question.

10. "see how/what he does before we judge him." Sure. His Wall Street credentials don't give us a clue.

I don't think he'll be a hardcore advocate for working people.

Now that's just a wild guess on my part so I'm probably way off base.

I want to see him stick a knife in our backs first and than act shocked and surprised!

27. Yes. Great job.

I think Daley was a chair of Gore's campaign committee.

Daley is currently serving on the Operating and Executive Committees of J.P. Morgan Chase and Company.

A regular working class "hero".

If you don't want a rational right winger then don't hire one but if that is what you want then he is top notch and quite competent.
