My Dear Democratic Representatives

Listening to Rachael, the number of sex scandals..it just boggles the mind..these are post Bill Clinton, and most of them are Republican..but that is not the point.

As a Democrat.. I do not want to read about this.. When you run for office, and you run from my party.. you are not only representing your district, everything that you do as a party member reflects on the rest of the party.. and that is just a fact.

Just like in any family, how you behave reflects not only on you, but the rest of the family.

Before you do something.. think about the rest of the family..you are a part of. Is it something you would not tell you Mother.. if not.. then think again before doing it.

I am about the party and getting my people elected. . Remember what family you belong to. We are not Republicans, We are Democrats. Clean it up and keep it clean

Mom

3. I'm too much of a student of history for that one
Most great men have had feet of clay, meaning their relationships with women did not bear close scrutiny, ever.

Restricting ourselves to the dry and sexless, which would be the only type never to engage in sexual stupidity, would net us absolutely wretched leadership.

This is all his problem and his wife's problem. It is not my problem. I don't vote for politicians to be saints or even popes. I vote for them to stand with me against the rich and powerful and if they won't do that, I vote against them.

I don't care what he does on his computer during his down time. It's just so not my problem. I'll let his wife and the women involved hash that one out.

(yeah, it was stupid. It was stupid when Clinton did it, too. It wasn't criminal then, either)

7. Thanks.
I've been swaying back and forth between the two sides of this argument. I'm clear now that getting the job done is what matters. As long as what was done didn't violate his oath of office, or anything more serious than something along the lines of a misdemeanor. I'm not sure I got that last part right. There's a line in there somewhere.

10. Then he should have said as much up front instead of being such a convincing liar.

Do you vote for them to tell the truth when they're asked a question?

For some this will matter. Others, not. Only time will tell how this plays out but it was not a stellar day for the party.

that politicians, clergy, businesspeople, mailmen etc.. have to learn to deal with and accept. The internut is not your friend when it comes to issues you do not want the whole world to see. Strangely none of us has the same the same freedoms? in that area that people use to have.

Our lives are now an open book..anyone can dig into and use to basically black mail you with. Wieners biggest mistake and the one that the rest of us in the Democratic party are having to deal with now, is his whole thing he did last week..hours and hours of interviews with everyone saying he did not do that.

As my op states.. I am directing this to everyone else in public office. Everyone in public office you have no private life.. it is just something they have to accept and move forward from.

We put them in office to work for us, and not have distractions like this. Will it happen again.. oh of course.. you would think with what happened to that guy in NY .. I can't think of the district now.. that our congresspeople would be a little more careful.

5. The OP is right. I feel exactly as the OP does. I live in another state.
My representative is a progressive, but one of the dullest people in Congress. Tonight, I am glad that I have my Congressman, but I am pissed about what Weiner is doing to the democratic party.

12. And you guys wonder why dems always lose
You shoot the guy for PRIVATE behavior, but not public. If Obama stepped up and worked for the ENTIRE country, instead of just the rich, I wouldn't care if he was fucking a duck.

The repubs seem to be able to take the private foibles of their politicians and even religious leaders with a grain of salt. AND THEY ARE THE RELIGIOUS PARTY!

Damn, I swear I don't understand the fuss. If he lies to his wife, he'll lie to you? What the fuck? Obama lied right at the beginning of his campaign. Remember? He said he wouldn't run for President in his first term if he was elected to the US Senate. HE LIED! But, that lie seems to be all right, because he didn't lie to his wife?

Politicians are our employees. What they do in their private lives are up to them and the people who live their lives with them. All I care about is, DO THEY GET THE JOB DONE? No wonder the dems are such spineless twits. All the alpha males have decided that the job is just not worth it, and neither are the hoops they have to jump through to keep it.

13. Because that's exactly what we need.
Two parties that insist on controlling the lives of consenting adults.

Thanks, but no thanks.

18. When you are on the internet and you are talking to people you have never met
there is no such thing as a consenting adult. You have no idea who you are conversing with or sending pictures to.

I have a 23 year old son who posts in the DU occasionally..and my advice to him is keep your relationships in the real world. Don't put anything on the internet you would not want me to see

It is a brave new world my friend..

14. This:
Asked how he knew that the women involved weren't under-age, Weiner admits he couldn't know for sure, and says he took them at their word. " I don't know the exact ages of the women," says Weiner. "They were all adults to the best of my knowledge."

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/richard-adams-blog/2011/jun/06/anthony-weiner-photo-scandal-live

This is, IMO, what kicks this into the stupidity stratosphere...really? To the best of your knowledge? Maybe if you weren't sending pics of your junk to women you didn't know, this wouldn't be a problem. :banghead:

15. So far down my list of concerns as to not make the list.
I care about the job and who's side are you on.

This is a non-incident and perhaps the most goofy "scandal" in history.

I reckon this is how the hero worship takes root, by setting these silly fuckers on pedestals when they are really and at best representative of a society where much, much "worse" is commonplace and expecting magic.

The party has certainly shamed me in ways the few sexual (and wow this one is a stretch, and we'll have to agree to disagree on definition of the word) can ever approach. What the fuck do I care about none of my beeswax with the things we vote and push?

These lame and pious little soapbox scraps are beyond my reckoning. I honestly can't believe this stuff is what folks want to make a line in the sand on. For all the shenanigans and wickedness inflicted on the people and our air, land, water, wildlife, as well as the heritage of our common future what is upsetting, disappointing, or unacceptable is sex and sexish related personal stuff.

Honestly, I think much of this is a Turd Way push to set up a party machine replacement that will toe the company line lie Cuomo up there.

I'll take one A Pimp Named Slickback actually working in the interests of the people over ten of the loyalist lapdog, life companion, faithful and true piece of shit stooge or traitorous facilitator.

All that ten is in the bush, not in hand. This little push is putrid and not the greatest reflection on priorities.
Get a Pope. I want these people to do a job not be my moral guides or pawns. If we stop acting a monkey about shit like this that a big fat chunk of humans of all stripes and most creatures do then this trivia would lose its power to even be a chip to hold agaionst people.

Seriously, where does this stuff even come from? How is anything with running the country into the ground to be tolerated and even defended but shit that has jack to do with you is the problem?

As far as I'm concerned this is Twilight Zone stuff. I can't even imagine giving a fuck with the state of affairs. This is how thing went to hell in a handbasket. Run your own sex life and/or undergarment photograph policy.

Holy fucking shit this is the lamest EVAH! Motherfucking underwear pictures. Fucking please. The Quaker Oats man called, he said he would see you in Sunday meeting and has complaints about your frivolous trim.

He believes they can do nothing wrong.
