5. Especially with the infrared camera that MSNBC used
That was pretty neat when the ice-cold landing gear popped out of the white-hot belly of the shuttle.

:-)

6. No problem. I was afraid I was going to have to watch it on Faux News, though...
...they started coverage first.

:scared:

7. Endeavor, as the newest Shuttle ....
Edited on Wed Jun-01-11 01:49 AM by Trajan
Is also the cleanest, and I think the prettiest ....

I dont think it ever had much of the top side white tiles .... It always had the bright white thermal blankets on many of the less heat-critical surfaces .... It gave it a brilliant white textured surface when seen close up ....

The least beat up of the remaining fleet ..... Good night OV105 ....

8. What's with the flame shooting out?
It looks a bit dramatic on the thermal cam, but so far the NASA commentator hasn't mentioned it at all, so I'm guessing it's not out of the ordinary?

9. MSNBC host said it was normal
burning off maneuvering fuel, perhaps?

10. Ah, thought it might have been the APU still running
Edited on Wed Jun-01-11 01:56 AM by KDLarsen
Watching it on the NASA websites.

ETA: The NASA commentator just mentioned it's the APU exhaust vent. Even so, it does look a bit dramatic, if not unusual.
