I'm going to have to have a little talk with my mom
Posted on: May 29, 2011 11:42 AM, by PZ Myers

didn't get the right leg up on my financial situation from my mother. If she'd done her job right, I might be in Bristol Palin's situation. Bristol Palin, famous for being the daughter of a wackaloon politician and nothing else, was signed on to be the public spokesperson for a foundation advocating abstinence-only sex education (which is already ironic, given that the most attention Bristol otherwise got was for getting pregnant out of marriage). We now have the financial statements from that organization. We can lay out the big picture simply.

Bristol Palin's salary: $262,500

Advertising: $165,000

Actual health and counseling clinics: $35,000

On second thought, maybe Mom did raise me right. I'm not a bloated parasite sucking up a fat salary at the expense of desperate teenagers.

1. What? She gets a quarter mil a year for getting knocked up as a teen, and then telling others
to not do what she did? :wtf:

2. The accidents of birth
favor some more than others. Bristol certainly proves it. If she had any other mother she would be just another unwed teenage mother high school graduate (barely) who would be working at a minimum wage job somewhere while grandma babysits. She would be the poster child for conservative America for what is wrong with the moral standards of our youth and the parents who neglected to raise them right.

Imagine if Malia Obama was a few years older and this had happened to her.

4. The absurdity of existence. Some kids get fame and fortune; some starve or suffer from disease.
Life is crazy.

8. It's baffling that people would pay to hear their opinions. Maybe corporations are stacking
the audiences like they're invading comment sections with phony outrageous "opinions".

9. There ought to be a law
Making it a crime for any charity to spend more on its own administration than it does on those it purports to assist. Restitution to the charity should be mandatory from the salaries of its officers (or ex-officers if they all try to escape by resigning).
