not everyone did. The death toll is up to 119

Tornadoes are NOT anything to take lightly.

More bad weather is on the way.

3. they need to inventory everything that was in the house...
so they get their full homeowners insurance payout for contents. Including junk in the garage that they wanted to throw out anyway.

Their insurance adjuster will LOVE them for it & they'll hopefully get the whole policy limit. Typically they'll also get 4-7 months rent/living expenses b/c the home is totalled.

Now we should all log off & put our home video's pics, etc. on a remote storage device. I've been to homes that were totalled (usually by fire, some by IKE), and those are the irreplaceable things that people most regret losing.

7. Agreed & Well Said
We all need to spend some time over the next few days checking the insurance papers, taking photos of each room and getting copies to a safe place off site.

13. Good Luck

(so they get their full homeowners insurance payout for contents.) Now that's a hoot. I deal with insurance companies everyday they make their own rules no matter what type of coverage you have and no matter what state you live in no matter what proof you give them. Now the real looting begins not by the people in the disaster area but by the insurance companies.

4. Glad to hear it. Homes are replaceable. People and pets are not.

6. Glad to hear that your sister and family are ok
And you are correct, tornadoes are not anything to take lightly. I've seen tornadoes destruction with my own eyes, although nowhere near what happened in Joplin.
Let's hope that the bad weather is rain and nothing more. The people of Joplin have suffered enough.

9. Thanks all
They lost their belongings. The house wasn't their's yet. They were living there and paying rent and had just decided to buy it when it became available. They were going to do all the paper work next month.
