Where was bin Ladin getting dialysis?
There has been no mention of his state of health prior to his death.

12. It sounds just like our conspiracy driven friends to expand kidney stones into dialysis at
a US military facility.

14. Yeah, but I don't even know if what I heard was true.
Out of 50 things that are said, maybe 1 is correct.
I am sure there is going to be a detailed analysis sometime.

5. Do we know that's even true? I've always heard it --and
believed it -- but I wonder if that was ever verified. If it IS true, a VERY good question!

7. Apparently he had a doctor visiting him weekly
As for dialysis equipment(portable), it's expensive but very available. My uncle tried to get one to take home to another country. medicare/cal almost gave it to him.

btw, i did see a BIG box of EQUAL(sugar substitute) in the house pictures.

guess he went to their military hospital.

9. There are two kinds of dialysis..
...in America, most people are only familiar with HEMOdialysis, which involves connecting to a machine that filters your blood. There is another style, with better mortality and overall easier to do since it can be done at home, called PERITONEAL dialysis. It is more popular in Europe.

It would be possible for him to have done the latter form at "home" but there are large amounts of supplies involved.

16. Hemodialysis can be done at home in the US; Dean Kamen invented a portable unit
(I'm Stage 3 and hope I don't need to know this)

17. I didn't know..
... there was a portable hemo unit. If you have to do it, do your research - I think you'll choose peritoneal.

18. I have IBD - probably not an option for me
Without going into an organ recital, home hemodialysis is my best choice if I go Stage 5 this year, which I'm not planning on! :hi:

19. However, with peritoneal dialysis you have to be very careful
you don't contract peritonitis, which if not treated fast can kill. The surroundings have to be completely sterile and that can be a pain in the ass.

PD is a great alternative to hemo, but it does come with a set of problems.

I doubt bin ladan was on any dialysis PD or hemo.

10. Offical Update: OBL was not on dialysis after all.
Edited on Fri May-06-11 08:10 PM by 99th_Monkey
No medications were found either that would indicate serious kidney issues.

Saw it announced on Tee-Vee MSM, NBC I think.

15. He wasn't. If he had been (or had a transplant), it would be very obvious.
My son is a former dialysis patient, now with a kidney transplant.

Multiple scars, which are very regular and discernible to basic medical personnel.

Not to mention, a shitload of drugs, none of which were mentioned in that cabinet they found.

20. From a few articles....
"The exclusive video obtained by ABC News inside the compound also does not show any evidence of dialysis equipment. There were what looked like medication bottles, but a closer look at the video reveals the bottles contain petroleum jelly, eye drops, olive oil, sunflower oil, an antiseptic and a nasal spray."

"What was in medicine chests at bin Laden compound?
Nearly a dozen drugs, including those to treat stress, stomach ulcers, recovered after raid "

List of meds are in the article

"HALE AND HEARTY: Amal, the youngest of Osama’s three wives also told investigators that her husband was hale and hearty and had recovered from his kidney ailment. “He was not on dialysis,” the official said.

Osama’s Yemeni wife told investigators that he had undergone two kidney surgeries in Afghanistan’s south-western Kandahar province during Taliban regime and had recovered thereafter, using homemade medications including water melons."
