The rapture mobile was outside my work today
I was on my lunch break, I leave my work and suddenly hear sirens/trumpets blaring over a loudspeaker. Then I see a huge bus, blocking the entire street, with "MAY 21'ST - JUDGMENT DAY" painted all over it. I just about died laughing. This is the heart of downtown, and they were literally just sitting in the middle of the street... cars were honking because nobody could get past them. Your typical fundy inconsiderate assholes.

1. They're just spreading the word. You'd better listen.
It'll all be over soon, and you could be left behind.

With any luck, they can all ride off to eternity in that damned bus, eh?

2. They've got less than a month to go
no need to worry about citations, they'll all be up with the great sky wizard before the court date comes up.

I agree that the terms fundy and "inconsiderate asshole" are pretty much interchangable.

13. Actually, the May date is just the beginning of the end of the beginning...
or something like that.

anyway, the real Rapture supposedly happens in October. The 21st, I believe.

Unless the fruitcake who worked up the mathematics on this discovers in the meantime that there was...ahem...an "error".

28. Too bad this isn't happening next year.
Then we could tell them that they shouldn't bother voting absentee because their vote will be thrown out if they are dead. Plus, they should know that there won't be an election based on their beliefs.

The driver would be pissed two different ways.

5. Did you get a chance to talk to them?
I'm doing a long bicycle ride that day (Reach the Beach, an American Cancer Society benefit), and I'd like to know ahead of time if I'm likely to finish. Will the end come when the International Date Line trips over into May 21? That would be 4 a.m. May 20 for us on the West Coast, so that seems unsporting of God. Noon Greenwich Mean Time? Then it would be, for a moment, May 21 all over the planet. A gradual, successive blowing up of sections of the Earth as it rotates into the 21st?

I got questions.

17. Well, if I get all raptured
I suppose if me and the bike go up, I should be going to heaven. But if the helmet comes with me, I would take that as a bad sign.

Besides, God did some of her best work on the Oregon Coast. No way she'd wanna fuck that up with a bunch of fireballs.

47. If I had to choose...
I'd go with the successive blowing up of the earth as each section gets into the proper position.

Sort of like New Years Day fireworks on a larger scale

Yep. God would enjoy that, I think

12. I appreciate the alert...
Since they won't be taking their buses and houses and money and stuff with them, I want to know when the proper time is to start letting them know I'll take care of all that stuff for them, and so they can just turn it over to me early to make sure.

Rather, get a notarized agreement that on May 22, 2011 all of their possessions would be turned over to you. House, vehicles, possessions, etc.

20. There has been a massive cash outlay for this
Billboards, vans, radio shows... all over the US.

I've been listening to the radio show... highly entertaining if you know anything about Christian scriptures. I wonder what the money deal is about, and who footed the bill! I fully expect a new story come 5/22... Jesus decided we weren't worthy and he's going to make us wait... and the only way to salvation is XXXX... which is no doubt a message from God that only the good preacher received and can understand... but for a small donation, he will make sure you have a seat on the glory train!

AND National Memo Day. Hallmark ( http://www.theultimateholidaysite.com/holidays/2011-5/ ) doesn't mention any International Rapture Day or if there's an appropriate card for it.

33. Just in case, though, don't tick off any Waitresses or Waiters on that day...
Edited on Wed May-04-11 05:16 PM by Buns_of_Fire
...or ANY day, when you come right down to it...

But, let's see what ELSE might be prompting this...

On May 21, 1927, Charles Lindbergh landed in Paris, completing the first nonstop solo transatlantic flight.

And in 1956, the U.S. tested the first aerial hydrogen bomb at Bikini Atoll.

It'll be Mr. T's 38th birthday, and Fats Waller's 106th birthday (if he were still alive).

Past that, I got nothin'.

(Oops. Mr. T was born in 1952, so that'd make him... uh... 59... I still don't think he's the cause of it all.)
