He's dead? Let me now call loudly for the return to US soil EVERY SERVICEMEMBER involved in the
search for his head.

Afghanistan? What?

Drones firing missiles into Pakistan? What?

Let's bring our treasure home.

NOW!

1. They should have never been there to begin with
but yes, this is the cover they have needed to finally get out.

Will they? Who knows. "Mission Accomplished" was 8 years ago today.

3. I've posted many rants here over the years, some well recieved, some not, about bringing troops home
It's time.

Mission Accomplished thanks to President Obama.

5. While I understand the question, I have to ask, will they not get paid the same amount here that
they were while they were overseas?

The answer to that is yes they will.

Think of what a shot in the arm the economy will get when a few hundred thousand people who make good money come home... they'll need everything from cars to refrigerators to microwaves to tvs to tennis shoes to tshirts.

If I were the Commander in Chief I'd announce my intent to create programs that would integrate military personnel into civilian projects as workers and managers.

It's not like we're putting them out of a job by bringing them home. There are lots of "closed" bases where they could be housed and re-integrated into civilian life as government workers doing beneficial tasks.

6. The troops could be used in labor battalions here
(as soldiers are in Russia) to help reconstruct our infrastructure.

7. Good luck with that.
We will be expecting retaliation. Homeland Security will be working overtime with terror alerts and TSA-style security theater because of the escalating threat.

8. So... keep "fighting them over there" then?
No esclating threat has been identified, yet there are those here who are already riding the "let's be scared" pony around the stable, screaming to be heard.

Will it never end?

10. It's a damn shame. I want our service people home, where they belong
and see us pull out of every foreign place we're not wanted and invest in our own domestic interests but I think we all know deep inside that this will never be the case.

sigh.
