I am the person who posted the response that you refer to in your reply to Laconicsax. The purpose of my post was precisely to point out the unfairness of the attack on atheists. I was *not* making a broadbrush attack on Christians, but was arguing that making broadbrush attacks on atheists is just as bigoted as making broadbrush attacks on Christians or Muslims. The poster had argued that 21st century atheists, French revolutionaries of the Reign of Terror, and Bolsheviks have in common that we 'are all ATHEISTS'. I pointed out - perhaps not as clearly as I should - that this was just as unfair as attacking all Christians because Hitler, McCarthy, the terrorists of the Troubles in Northern Ireland and the Tea Party were all Christians. Or, as I stated more briefly, attacking all Muslims because of the actions of Al Quaeda.
I am happy to change my own post if the meaning is unclear. And I am not necessarily demanding that the post, to which I was responding, should be removed. But I do wish to clarify that I was NOT making an equivalent attack on Christians, but rather pointing out that the remark about atheists was just as objectionable as an equivalent attack on Christians would be.
