Question about vaccination discussions and the health forum.
Edited on Fri Jun-03-11 11:48 AM by mzmolly
Hi Skinner,

I have a two part question/comment ... A couple years back it was determined that vaccination discussions would be moved to the health forum given the nature of the debate on this matter. However, yesterday I noted a biased OP on the subject in GD. I alerted on it three times, and it remained in GD vs. health. Here is the thread in question -

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=439&topic_id=1215698&mesg_id=1215698

Also the "big surprise" intro followed by speculation, invites flame IMHO. Not to mention vaccine threads in GD of any kind, may re-invite the issues that were abundant in GD, prior to moving these discussions to the health forum. This brings me to the second part of my question, have you considered a specific section for all things vaccine/disease related? Perhaps this would appease those who don't like the health forum being used to discuss vaccination, and make it easier for the mods to determine what gets moved where.

Thanks in advance for your consideration. :)

1. The thread was permitted to stay...
...because the moderators felt it had some useful new information, and was not a retread of former vaccine discussions.

As for a specific section for vaccine discussions, we aren't creating new groups at this time. We can consider the topic after we move into our new software later this year.

6. I've posted several stories about vaccination.
Some are positive and some question the official talking points.

I think of "anti-vaccine" as a pejorative meant to discourage open discussion. I'm sorry to see you use this term, as criteria for discussion in GD. I'll try to be mindful, regardless.
