John McCain's bitter Libya spin
Kos: John McCain's bitter Libya spin

<...>

Suffice it to say, we all know where McCain originally stood in all this: bowing to Gaddafi.

<...>

Well, if the whole "bowing" outrage ever pops up again, there is the video at the link.

1. Not only that, didn't he go on a weapons-sale trip to Libya a couple of years ago?
:kick:

2. I heard him on CNN, saying
that it took too long.
basically that Obama just can't do anything right and McCain just can't lower himself to give the man some credit.

3. John "Entitled" McCain has never gotten over the fact that he was

4. What is really sad is that McCain had a MUCH better alternative
He worked hard to try to get Obama the Congressional approval he needed. Given that it is beginning to appear that the Libya effort was worth doing, he could have graciously praised Obama for making a decision - unpopular with his own base - that circumstances in Libya called for. He could have even not pointed out his own support -letting the McCain fan club in the media do so. (It is always better to let others trumpet your successes.

This would have created an image of a McCain, who like Obama was right, and who was willing to be bipartisan and modest to boot. What would be better to burnish your image.

The fact that McCain was for a unilateral US action and that he was actually for a far more aggressive action - more like Bush in Iraq - than Obama in Libya - would likely have been lost in the noise and, given his popularity with some in the media, he would be getting part of the credit.

If as it seems this ends up being a success, the credit will go to Obama - and historically, other than Obama, who as President gets the Full credit or blame because he makes the decision, it will also likely go to Susan Rice, who worked with the UN, Samantha Powers, who saw Libya in terms of Rwanda, and Hillary Clinton, who before the decision was made shifted to support it. I think that some credit will also go to Senator Kerry, who in op-eds and talk shows was the first to articulate getting Arab approval, UN approval and creating a no fly zone - and NOT putting ANY US troops on the ground.

5. McCain has
become the ultimate sore loser. His comments during the debate to repeal DADT were atrocious. He could have used his stature as the 2008 Republican nominee to help to move the country forward. Instead, he chose the path of partisanship and pettiness.

7. I don't hold that against him as much as other things - like climate change -
that he was once good at.

It might be that at his age, he has a hard time losing the homophobia that he likely has always had.

6. Now, now - I'm sure he had a plan all along for Libya
He just couldn't tell it to anyone!

For some weird reason, I was thinking about his wife the other day and really can't see what she ever saw in this asshole.

8. He actually was openly for a unilateral invasion
and he did call for the US to continue leading it.

The sad thing is that he doesn't see that on the international stage - the decisions Obama made increased respect for the role we played. (Yes, I know that he didn't follow the WPA in the eyes of many.)
