1. I hope they kill it too. It's a complete farce and an insult to anyone with a brain. nt

2. I would agree with you, if I could be sure that a better bill would follow
but it wouldn't. They would kill the bill and then nobody would do anything. Reid, Pelosi, et al. would just say, "Oh well, I guess it's not meant to be this year..." And then we would have nothing at all.

3. Yes, they need to start over from scratch. And I must ask: did Bush ever drag
any bill or action out to this degree? It seems like the run up to the Iraq war took less time!

4. Happy to give this a K&R.
Now, we are talking.

This is where all of our focus needs to be now.

We were taken for a corporate ride, stroked and made to feel that there was really something good that could come from this, but the corporations had all the inside cards and Obama is waiting to declare his victory, even if it makes every American a forced consumer of corporation heath "care".

We need to defeat this bill now.

5. A strange silence tonight
from the House. I know the focus is on the Senate and the corporate media cannot seem to focus on more than one theme at a time but I haven't heard of one house member interviewed. The progressives in the Senate have totally caved. No word from Sanders but they will probably get a repuke or two now that the bill is totally corporate. They got their bipartisanship and will declare victory.

8. I agree...it is now worse than nothing...
Kill it...

The American people are just too stupid and self absorbed to rouse to action unless it directly affects them in a profound and painful way...

For too many people the 47 million uninsured are out of sight, out of mind...more than enough to allow the cowards in congress to kill it without political ramification...

10. So we have no bill? And now that so much political capital has been burned with it,
Edited on Mon Dec-14-09 11:20 PM by Writer
we just toss it aside because it doesn't fit enough litmus tests?

That's political suicide. Goodbye 2010. Stick with the damned thing and REVISE it later!

16. Right.
Thank goodness the reps have more sense than this lot of cynical keyboard warriors with nothing to lose.

15. Yeah, let's not give millions of people a chance to not have to fight the pre-existing clause...
...for another 15 years.

Ferfucketyfuckcrissakes!

Even if the bill passed now, it has a chance to be amended in a year or two. Or we can attach a big bomb belt to our bellies and blow ourselves up and have another attempt at reform come down the pike in 15 years.

UnRec.
