If this is confirmed, it would be a smart move.

The Deal Is Cut
Josh Marshall | November 13, 2010, 12:21AM

The full details are not in yet. But it appears that Nancy Pelosi has come to an agreement with current Majority Whip James Clyburn that will have him taking a yet-to-be-named number three position in the Democratic House leadership in the 112th Congress.

That means Pelosi is leader, Hoyer is whip and John Larson, the Caucus chair who seemed most likely to get cut in any deal, remains Caucus chair in the next Congress.

In other words, the musical chairs crisis created by the fact that there are four leadership slots in the majority and three in the minority has been solved by creating a fourth slot in minority too. Ingenious. It sounds like Charlie Rangel gets his wish.

1. So the black man who's a true Progressive has to be the one who's left out in the cold and this
Corporatist Hoyer I guess gets the whip job. Sometimes democrats are just as bad as the rethugs when treating black people. Like Joe Madison says undervalued underestimated and marginalized.

2. I think the compromise is smart, and was proposed by Rangel, which, I guess

is also a racist?

Also seems Clyburn agrees. He could have asked for a vote. Is he a racist too? I wanted somebody else altogether, because Hoyer and Clyburn were not that effective keeping the blue dogs in line, but if this avoids a leadership battle, all the better.

4. Did not come up with this BS
and I bet he will not go on RECORD stating that this was his idea.
I'm sure you are referring to the clip on TPM where josh ask for his opinion and he said 3rd position. He DID NOT say it was HIS idea. If you know something different please link, so I can send Ole Charlie an email!

5. apparently you or I can't understand English
It is crystal clear from that tape that Rangle suggested adding another position, which is what happened. What part of that doesn't make it his idea?
