Strange how there's wall-to-wall coverage of Rangel and Waters but NO coverage of
Ensign and Vitter. Just the usual narrative that "the Dems. don't need 'all' this corruption so close to the midterm elections." The ONLY place I saw ANY mention of Ensign and Vitter was by Chris Hayes Friday on Rachel Maddow's show.

1. To be fair, Ensign's saga is ongoing. Rangel's and Waters' have concluded.

2. They've been covering Rangel long before Rangel's "case" had concluded,

and there SHOULD be even just a MENTION once in a while about how "family values" Repubs. who have been charged with corruption/paying for prostitutes/cheating on their wives are still in Congress.

8. Rangel was writing tax laws for everybody
and then when charges are brought of tax evasion by him, that is
certainly shocking news. Ever heard of fox guarding the chicken coop?

9. Does that mean the media doesn't have the time to also cover the corruption of Ensign?
Is HE being asked to resign and being talked about re: hurting the Repubs.?

12. Can you throw some light on the Ensign situation
since media is pretty much ignoring it.

3. Posted today...
as for Vitter, I think that ship has sailed except for snide remarks from Dems. Seems rethugs don't think it mattered all that much.

5. Ensign and Vitter aren't Democrats and they aren't Black.
The media is always harder on Democrats, especially if they are women or minorities.

I think the main reason for that is that Republicans are much better at pumping these stories and criticizing the media when they don't cover it to their satisfaction. I think that there are Republicans behind the scenes daring the media not to cover corruption stories about Black politicians.
Daring to show their favoritism toward them just because a Black president is in the WH. This plays into their whole racist strategy that they have implemented on hate radio and cable.

The media is full of stenographers who allow Republicans to set their programming and talking points for them. Because they are lazy and because they are afraid of them. Democrats are not as good at framing the issues with the media and this is one of their biggest failures.

I also suspect Republicans stalled the timing of the hearings to come out just before the election and the Democrats are too inept to control that.

11. True, but...
the media ALSO uses an in-proportionate number of Black Conservatives as shown on this other thread I started: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=433&topic_id=388910
