POLL: Outsiders Lead in Florida Primaries. Scott leads McCollum (43/32). Greene leads Meek (33/23)

Outsiders Lead in Florida Primaries

A new Quinnipiac poll in Florida shows two businessmen without previous political experience have completely changed the dynamics of the gubernatorial and Senate races in the final few weeks.

In the Republican race for governor, Rick Scott (R) leads Bill McCollum (R), 43% to 32%, with another 23% undecided.

In the Democratic race for the U.S. Senate nomination, Jeff Greene (D) has jumped in front of Rep. Kendrick Meek (D), 33% to 23%, with 35% undecided.

Said pollster Peter Brown: "If there was any doubt that enough money can make a political unknown into a front-runner, the Democratic Senate primary and the Republican primary for governor should lay them to rest. Both Greene and Scott have come from nowhere to hold double-digit leads with just a little more than three weeks until the voting."

4. A rather shameful turn of events. To think...Meek was up by two in June.
The consolation (kind of) is that we would stand a better chance of knocking down Rubio in the General if Greene is the Dem nominee. Crist fares better in a three-way with him rather than Meek.

5. I am not so sure. Greene has the money to turn votes..
He might be a more formidable challenge to Crist. Regardless I hope Meek wins mainly because Greene makes me ill.

2. 35 percent undecided?
Greene has spent 5 million dollars and 35 percent are still undecided? Meek will do fine.

Scott on the other hand will likely beat McCollum then lose the race to Sink.

6. Meek just started advertising, but I am afraid it is going to be too little too late
I have NEVER seen two candidates dominate the airwaves like Scott and Greene.

Bought and paid for-- absolutely.

8. Yeah, and the problem for Meek is that as soon as he airs an ad Greene comes back immediately..
with a barrage of ads refuting everything and attacking Meek even more. Its like Meek has a pump-up bb gun and Greene an AK-47.

13. I think Sink's strategy will serve her well...
She will have money in the bank and few negatives going into the Fall season.

14. Indeed. Sink it looking good. This could be a very good election in Nov in FL..
that is assuming Crist wins and caucuses with the Democrats.
