If Ms. Sherrod Can Forgive Mr. Vilsack
I thought his apology was sincere and he feels terrible.

2. Ditto. I just posted that I believed him. I was very impressed. Both he
and all the speakers I've seen from the NAACP have been big enough people to admit their mistake and ask for forgiveness.

I was thinking, if I were she, I'd have a hard time not forgiving him. And from what I've seen of her thus far, she seems to have a compassionate heart.

3. Indeed, Can We Get Over This And Turn Our Fire On Fox And Breitbart???
If Sherrod can move on and direct her ire appropriately, can't we?

23. I Did Not Know The DOA Had So Many Civil Rights
claims against them.

Says he's is trying to change the culture at DOA and reduce the claims...he says "racism will not be tolerated" - firing Shirley so quickly was meant as a message to all DOA employees.

Nonetheless, he fucked up, but in the end, teachable moment, FOX exposed, Bierbart (sp)exposed again.

My hope would be that FOX would change their habit of habitual lying and divisiveness, but that will NEVER happen.

Shirley Sherrod has the time now to write that book about her incredible life - she's a superstar.

8. Vilsack Representin'
Vilsack Representin'

When was the last time the day's biggest made-for-TV political event involved ... a press conference by the secretary of agriculture?

A rare opportunity to spotlight the USDA and civil rights.

Good stuff, especially when it looks like there will be a happy ending and new beginning.

9. I'm so glad that the White House apologized
Followed by Vilsack coming forward appropriately.

And now - Breitbart and FoxNews et al can eat shit. Hannity can have a second helping since he was still pushing the story after the entire video was made public.

22. I feel the same...
Today, a friend told me about his continuing to push their spin. I think she caught a few minutes of his radio show. About 5 minutes is all she can take. :hi:

13. As someone who has weathered 6 ffiring attempts untouched, I have to say....

... it feels great when you win.

Especially the three who were fired in their own turn for making the attempt. And the one who was fired for another reason (gross incompetence) which lets me wear his attempt to fire me as a badge of honor.

But the two who realized they had made a mistake felt pretty damned satisfying as well. And you can really respect a superior who comes around like that instead of sticking to their guns just because they don't want to look bad.
