Obama Averages 47.3% Approval in Sixth Quarter

Sort of puts Presidential approval in context, doesn't it.

1. Bush was at 74.9% down at least 15 points from his 90+% October 1, 2001
Didn't hear much about his approval numbers tanking as I recall.

11. If you look at Bush's approval in total .... by the end ...
The entire graph looks like a 4 diamond ski slope, minimum .... A high peak (9/11) and then a straight down-hill with numerous scary moguls and drops ... ending up at the bottom, near the lodge ... where you could get a drink and be happy you survived the trip.

Which is why we can't let the GOP in power again.

3. Averages are important in the classroom
But when people walk into a voting booth, their current mood is more likely to dictate their choice

4. true but they also tell us that just because a president is at 47% today doesn't mean he can't go on
to win by a landslide two years later--such as Reagan and Clinton.

5. Obama is in better shape now than Carter, Reagan and Clinton were
and two of them went on to win re-election handily.

7. Obama is the president during a massive shitstorm with a polarized population
Drawing parallels to reassure oneself, I believe, is difficult. Id put my money on him winning again, but I must recognize that there is so much time in between now and then

10. Meaningless poll
As we all know, the people don't elect Presidents, the Electoral College does. How a Presidential candidate does in terms of electoral votes would be more realistic. I will also point out that polls this far away from 2012 are not reliable at all.

13. "As we all know, the people don't elect Presidents, the Electoral College does"
Does that mean that a candidate can get fewer votes in every state and win?

The Electoral College may be skewed, but it doesn't eliminate the importance of winning votes.
