5. The only reason they emote skepticism is that skepticism keeps audiences on edge
And watching, which makes their advertising time slots more valuable.

2. Stopping the flow of oil doesn't fix the leak permanently.
They need to finish the relief well to cap this thing.

3. The media whores and talking heads don't want to be caught flat-footed
If the Gulf oil situation is indeed past the crisis phase, they'll have to find another one pronto.

There are still a lot of buts
If the pressure in the cap drops it means the well itself is broken and oil is still leaking into the rock and seabed, that oil will hit the water.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this will work until they can plug it though.

6. I am glad they are saying but, but, but.
Only a fool who doesn't understand pressure would have 100% confidence in the cap.

10. Why are they stupid?
Given all of BP's horrendous failures over the last three months - especially the huge failure that created the situation in the first place - how confident are YOU that this cap will stay in place.

I hope it does. But I'm not about to take BP's word for anything. Now or ever.

11. From what has been on KO and other mostly reputable sources, capping the leak
may cause other problems that may not be evident for a while. Of course we are all hoping this is the thing that needs to be done and should've been done months ago, as this is apparently not a new device, but it may not yet be over. Fingers crossed.

20. Exactly.
If true, Obama did get his statement right of how things would work out in the end during his address to the American people a few weeks back.

16. There is an ROV scanning the seabed somewhere down there,
Edited on Thu Jul-15-10 04:58 PM by Sinistrous
and the seafloor is bubbling like a pot of oatmeal on a hot stove. My guess is that the bubbles are methane.

(See the displays on bpisevil.org and others. Look for Viking Poseidon ROV 4)

Edited on Thu Jul-15-10 05:24 PM by Denzil_DC
and I can't find any live feeds of ROV 4 anywhere at present.

If you have a specific working link of what you're seeing, please share it.

21. Thanks! That works, but
I can't identify ROV 4 there.

The feed labeled 37270 shows a lot of lit-up specks, but I'm not clear they're gas, and they're floating about, not rising. Is that the feed you were referring to?

24. Oh rats.
I use several sites and forgot which one I was on. Try http://www.mlittle.com/bp/ . The Viking Poseidon ROV 4 is looking at something else right now, but one of the other cameras on that site might be scanning the bottom.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

22. Jesus in Heaven, you're going to make me defend the corporate media
It is their DUTY to say but, but, but

Nothing would be more idiotic than taking the criminal organization BP at their lying word.

Distrust and double and triple verify damn well better be the motto here.

The well and the sea floor must be independently examined. BP is one of the least trustworthy organizations in human history with too many incentives to lie and bury pertinent facts.
