2. Local news reporting crowds along motorcade route
Edited on Wed Jun-30-10 01:11 PM by MarthaM
President's motorcade stopped at O&H Bakery, a must in Racine. He bought three kringles which they said he joked about using up all the cash in his pocket. Pecan, cherry, and ... I can't remember the other one. Danish kringle is something Racine is known for.

10. From the local paper's live blog...
12: 55 p.m. -- Obama picks up some kringle at O&H

Obama said of kringle, "I'm going to take a couple back for the girls."

He shook hands with kringle makers and said, "This is a kringle maker right here."

He said, "these are delicious," while trying a bit of pastry.

The president bought cherry kringle, cheese kringle and pecan kringle.

"I want to add to the Racine economy," he said, checking out.

11. President will choose who asks questions--not pre-selected or pre-screened
According to the Channel 4 newscasters. Of course their rightwingy commentator (who I can't stand) is cynical about that and doubts the questions are really random.

This is Paul Ryan's congressional district. Naturally he's not there today, but has given statements today critical of the administration, of course.

I really enjoy seeing him in this type of setting. I've said it before, I'll say it again -- the guy could do stand-up. His delivery and timing are right-on, and he's pretty much got me smiling and nodding along from the git-go.

35. says the way they distributed the tax cut was smart economically if not politically...
.... that by putting it weekly pay checks ... folks are less likely to REALIZE they're getting it, but MORE likely to SPEND it. If he'd wanted to score politically, he would have just sent everyone a big fat check "with my picture on it." .... but in so doing, folks would have been MORE likely to hang on to it.

Catch 22

The Page (Mark Halprin) has a 3 min. compilation video posted which includes the yell.

I'm beginning to think Republicans aren't human. They're so vile.
