Biden warns of GOP 'blitzkrieg'
By Eric Zimmermann - 06/30/10 10:04 AM ET

Republicans are preparing for a "blitzkrieg" of attacks against Democrats, Vice President Joe Biden warned in a letter to supporters.

The forceful language came in a fundraising e-mail for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, in which Biden warned that the GOP would use any means necessary to take back the House.

"As things heat up, you can expect House Democrats will be hit with a GOP blitzkrieg of vicious Swift-Boat-style attack ads, Karl Rove-inspired knockout tactics, thinly veiled attempts at character assassination and tea party disruptions," Biden wrote.

Keeping the House, the veep wrote, is all about money.

"Our strategists are looking at the midterms from every angle, and we know what must be done to sustain our Democratic Majority — it's simply a matter of having the financial resources required right now to most effectively help targeted incumbents," he said.

1. Hate to say it Joe.
But part of it will be your fault if democrats lose. It's not all about money in order to win. Try doing some things that Democrats want and you may be surprised like jobs, keeping SS and medicare to name a couple.

5. that's just obfuscation, not rational argument or discussion....
Focus on grammar and mislead about the poster's intentions. You should go into politics, or failing that, used car sales!

Now you respond by saying "used car sales isn't an honorable profession?"

9. I presumed you were being snide...
My apologies if not. The other responder to your post seems to have taken it the same way. Of course the Obama administration isn't going to "shut down" SS and Medicare, at least not without a LOT of argument.

10. I meant it as sarcasm to the post above
because I found the claim to be absurd. No harm done :-)

16. Didn't say they where.
But the administration does not seem to care much what with having Simpson on board. Didn't Biden say that jobs are gone and not coming back, with that attitude I get the feeling he's not going to fight for much.

8. Unfortunately a coordinated swiftboating covers a multitude of good deeds..
The only way to fight it is with money and ads. BTW, Dems are all for jobs, SS and Medicare. Its the GOP who are fighting against them.

17. They're taking themselves down by their own actions.
I have nothing to do with it. I'll cheer lead when there's a reason for it. I've voted democrat since Mcgovern but I'm not going to vote for demlite.

4. this is just holding on to power for its own sake....
The primary function of today's political parties is keeping the other party out of office. Actually governing? Solving problems-- really solving them, rather than just pasting "SOLVED" stickers on them? All that is SO boringly passe!

13. So there will be no difference between a Pelosi-led house and a Boehner led house?
Edited on Wed Jun-30-10 03:06 PM by emulatorloo
IMHO and I guess naive opinion, it looks to me like the Dems are trying to govern, the Republicans just want to fuck up legislation and campaign.

11. As an American who Works for a Living,
I can no longer donate to the DCCC/DSCC in good conscience.
They have used my money against my own Economic Interests in Democratic Primaries by Steamrolling local Progressive candidates, and inserting their own Corporate Management Approved "Pragmatic Centrists".

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=160&topic_id=14207

I will only donate directly to Progressive Candidates with a strong Pro-LABOR, Pro-Working Class, Pro-Medicare for All, Out NOW records.

There is no such thing as "Free Trade".
There is no such thing as a "Free Market".
There is NO Giant Invisible Hand.
The RICH made that shit up and sold it to a gullible America.

"If we don't fight hard enough for the things we stand for,
at some point we have to recognize that we don't really stand for them."

12. And the republican fund raising efforts were anemic
the Democrats were out performing them. So why do you think the bunch of republican crooks posing as judges (who swore not to be activist) ruled in favor of corporations being able to funnel as much money as they wanted into political races. These republicans on the bench knew this was the only way for the republicans to gain enough money to try to take back congress. The people of this country have to know what will happen if this bunch get back in. We are just beginning to see daylight out of the mess bush and the republican majority in congress left and if they get back in this country will go belly up in six months.
