My Short Letter To A Right Wing Rag In Maine
Edited on Mon Jun-28-10 09:51 AM by RBInMaine
The Downeast Coastal Press is a right wing rag newspaper in rural Washington County, Maine. Here is the short letter I have just written to their owners/editors. Enjoy.

June 28, 2010

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Hastings,

As a property owner in Washington County with long family roots in the area, I have read your publication over the years from time to time. While I enjoy your news pieces and certain other features, I must ask you if you are on the payroll of the Republican National Committee. Your editorial pages would seem to indicate this. I think one could find greater political balance on the Rush Limbaugh program. I know you are hardcore Republicans, and I know you probably can’t stand that an African American Democrat was elected President, but would it be possible to include maybe just one lonely editorial piece that represents the other side rather than your incessant three to four anti-Obama/anti-Democratic Party pieces in every single issue with nothing at all representing the other viewpoint? At least Fox News pretends to be “fair and balanced.” Maybe you could too, just a little.

Sincerely,...

1. I have been to Maine, and it has always struck me as a very rural state.

I am from Connecticut so we have the extreme congestion and a lot of people living in a small state. We do have some rural areas. But we have some major cities. Is Maine, because it is New England but rural, just going to keep electing the moderate Republicans in? I don't see it going to the extreme left or right any time soon. Kind of a unique state.

2. Actually, on balance it has become moderate/progressive overall but does have a strong indy streak.

4. Assuming that you possess the one and only truth is Blasphemy. Odd, how many X-tians have forgotten
that.
