More employees jump ship as economy improves
Significant parts of the country are still way under water in employment.. but this is again seeing things turn around.. I am hoping and praying that everyone very quickly will become part of the recovery..

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_economy_quitting_time

One sign of better economic times is when more people start finding jobs. Another is when they feel confident enough to quit them.

More people quit their jobs in the past three months than were laid off — a sharp reversal after 15 straight months in which layoffs exceeded voluntary departures. The trend suggests the job market is finally thawing.

Some of the quitters are leaving for new jobs. Others have no firm offers. But their newfound confidence about landing work is itself evidence of more hiring and a strengthening economy.

"There is a century's worth of evidence that bears out this view that quits rise and layoffs fall as the job market improves," said Steven Davis, an economist at the University of Chicago.

1. I'll bet they are. But, I'm still seeing depressed wages in the
ads I've been looking at.

3. I saw that article
another slightly hopeful sign.

Another was that there were more job openings in April than in the previous 16 months. There are always setbacks in a recovery, but I'm hopeful that we're not going to nosedive into another recession.

6. So a couple of biz writers for AP have the last word on this?
why do you still put your faith in a media that fashions a few numerical indicators to highlight an improvement. Its like the M$M is god to you. Numbers can be tooled to show anything, and yet you hold onto these golden little indicators and tell me I cant be correct because I dont have access to the REAL data. You must be doing OK and you want me to see an improving economy.

As far as I am concerned your FACTS cannot be substantiated beyond an AP article, come on get real. It took 30 years to get here, its not gonna change overnight or in 4 years.

This is a big country, pockets of improvement are to be expected, but pockets do not a robust economy make.

9. There are jobs for $8 an hour...
Edited on Wed Jun-09-10 10:45 AM by lib2DaBone
No benefits.. of course.. so don't even ask...

But what I am finding... I can work for $8 an hour... but if I have to drive 50 miles each way for the job.... at the end of the week... I am actually in the hole.

I did find one job for $11 an hour... but the commute was 140 miles daily. I thought I could do it.. but after a week.. I had to quit... the wear and tear on the car and driver was incredible.

Edited on Wed Jun-09-10 10:48 AM by Peacetrain
jobs many much more than what is out there.. and I am sure that there is movement that way also.. But one thing locally , we have had some people head to the gulf.. they were trained in at 12.00 an hour and will be receiving 20.00 and hour when in on the beach doing cleanup.

That is what we have been told, how true it all is, I don't know..
