Another Palin FAIL- Dozens Turn Out For Mega Boston Tea Party Rally- Updated

by nyseer

Today, according to Boston.com, 10,000 were expected at Sarah Palin's Boston Tea Party Rally. That sounds like a pretty big number. A day before tax day in you know, Boston, you'd expect a big rally I suppose. Not Joe the Plumber hey days big of course, but there's American flags and stuff, so they count as triple in the media...

Well- here's the overhead shot because only a helicopter could capture the masses-

This was taken as crowds gathered, but MSNBC had a live shot as she was speaking and it was essentially the same. The Boston.com headline this morning said "10,000 Expected..." In the body of the article that estimate was reduced down to 3000 by the time I read it. MSNBC later put a "1000 attend Tea Party Rally in Boston" crawl under video about the story. But hey, that deserves national attention right?

Sarah's a rock star. No one else in American politics can whip up crowds like she can. Oh wait...

<...>

Okay, that wasn't fair. Those were um, political rally's. Sarah's a woman of the people now. And we know how stirred up the people get and they must be shown on national T.V. because they are so damn populist. Look at this anti health care rally for Gods sake!

The title "Dozens" is clearly sarcasm, but

2. Not only did MSNBC keep reporting that 10,000 were EXPECTED, but at one point a reporter
from MSNBC who was there said the police estimated there were 10,000 people there. Meanwhile, the over-head shot kept showing a space not even filled up. :eyes:

3. Thanks for this!
I was going to start a thread a couple of hours ago asking if this crowd looked like 3 thousand people (it certainly doesn"t!) but then I got distracted and made dinner and..oh, you know.
This is an absurdly small group. It ain't even a thousand people.

12. Well, it may have been...
I'm certain that at SOME point during Woodstock there were only 1200 people there.

5. Still-watch MSNBC and CNN claim 10,000 were there and watch RWers claim 20,000
were there. They inflate ALL the crowd sizes they get.

7. Either the Globe or the Herald was saying thousands.
That was at some point in the afternoon, though, and I don't know what they were basing the figures on. I also don't know whether counter-protesters or similar figured in all this.

6. It looks like only Bostons Fox news viewers showed up.
and yet somehow this right wing loony tune managed to make it on NBC's and ABC's evening news.

I remember the good ole days where we had 100,000's protesting the Bush administration and we got next to no coverage, certainly not on the Evening News.

I am amazed and somewhat jealous, at the control the right has over the media.

11. So why can't we call bullshit on the media
for continually reporting bogus numbers? You're telling me there's no downside for telling such transparent lies over and over again?

13. I'd wager that half of the people there weren't even teabaggers.
From the looks of the videos I've seen a lot of the people were the media, vendors, gawkers, anti-baggers, etc. Not many actual "protesters".
