President Obama shrugs off healthcare law criticism

President Barack Obama shrugged off judgments of the healthcare law as premature on Thursday, noting, “It’s only been a week.”

Obama took on Republicans, pundits and the media during a speech promoting the law in Portland, Maine.

Obama said pundits and reporters should allow more time to pass before judging the new law’s popularity.

"Can you imagine if some of these reporters were working on a farm? You planted some seeds and they came out the next day... 'Nothing's happened. There's no crop. We're going to starve. Oh, no. It's a disaster.' It's been a week, folks," Obama said.

He scoffed at Republicans who, according to Obama, had proclaimed it would be “Armageddon” when healthcare reform became law, and singled out for criticism House Republican Leader John Boehner (Ohio), who the crowd booed.

Funny... I was just having the same sort of argument on another thread... people are just too weird, I swear! Of course his actions haven't been "effective" yet! People! Helllllooooo~! It's been a very, very short time since most of what he has done has been done! He's spent a very careful year researching, discussing, etc... the pudding isn't on the stove yet! So how the hell can we see the proof in the pudding?

6. Well, that is true.

It has been only a week. None of us, whether we support it or not, can really pass too much judgment on it until the laws are implemented. I'm in wait-and-see mode. I hope the bill is successful. The American people deserve it.
