9. Yes.
I don't feel happy about this bill.

The insurance companies are happy, the shareholders are happy, and wall street is happy.

When we get real national healthcare I will be happy.

All we got is crap care.

People are still going to die and be sick from lack of health care.

Having insurance doesn't mean having health care.

where they're at now. Tommy Douglas was hated, threatened, called every nasty name in the book - a whole province of doctors went on strike in protest. Ours took a long time, and is still evolving.

I think it's great, it will get better ........ and Congrats. I'm so happy millions more will be taken care of.

26. Exactly. This is progress, but they are still laughing just a little more softly now.
We still need financial regulation, restoration of the safety net, progressive taxation, to strengthen unions (EFCA), and, yes, more health care reform, but we took a step in the right direction.

24. Less broke than before. Ironic that one of the only useful features of the bill
--had absolutely NO need of mandates or any of that other crap. Medicaid could have been expanded merely by revising existing legislation.

Edited on Sun Mar-21-10 10:43 PM by Sebastian Doyle
From your link:

Blue - Single-payer universal health care
Green - Public universal health care through other means
Gray - No universal health care or no data

The US remains in the "gray area" of this map, because mandatory corporate care does not fit the other two definitions.

29. No, you're wrong.
Since the current reform is copied in most details from the Dutch system, and the Netherlands is in green, the US now will be green also. And yes, contrary to a lie often seen on DU, Dutch mandated insurance is sold by both for-profit and not-for-profit companies.

22. Not exactly.
As long as we don't have single payer, this country will never be the moral equal of those countries that do. It is a DISGRACE that we treat our most vulnerable citizens this way, and it is our great shame as a nation to have to own the atrocities that have been visited upon us by insurance companies.

I am one of the millions currently without health insurance, and I still oppose this corporate SHAM masquerading as a "progressive victory." This bill is an embarrassment that rewards the parasitic insurers who caused these problems in the first place. Call me a DINO, accuse me of wanting a pony or a unicorn or whatever, but it doesn't make me any less right.

23. It is the only nation to force people to buy crap coverage that won't pay for care
And it's bullshit that we deny the poor care. It's only those not poor enough for Medicaid that get denied care.

31. Yes the very poor will be covered.
Not quite sure this health "insurance" bill rates us even close to the other 1st world countries in regards to healthcare. This bill makes health "insurance" almost universal, it does not however make health "care" universal.

Yes it will be better in some ways then what we had, but it is not ANYTHING like what Europe, Canada, etc have.
