Crist Trails Rubio by 32 Points. Only path to victory is to run as an independent or even a Democrat
Crist Trails by 32 Points

A new Public Policy Polling survey in Florida finds Marco Rubio (R) leading Gov. Charlie Crist (R) in their U.S. Senate race by an astounding 32 points, 60% to 28%.

"Our general election Senate numbers, which we'll release tomorrow, find that Crist is a good deal more popular with Democrats now than he is with Republicans. His path to any future electoral victory may come as an independent or perhaps even as a Democrat."

3. Why? Right now the Democratic Party seemingly doesn't stand for ANYTHING.
IMO, we're a softer, warmer and lighter version of the Corporate Controlled GOP.

7. Crist could probably beat any Democrat running.
Rubio is a little fascist, Jeb Bush protege. A decent Dem could probably beat him. I don't think they can find one.

18. I don't think "fascist" fits Rubio
because according to wiki, fascism has to do with central authority.
Rubio is more of a libertarian type who believes in capitalism without
restraints of any kind, much less central authority from the feds.

19. Rubio is every bit a fascist
One needs to understand the hatred the Cuban elite has for the common man. The early Cuban exiles who came from the few upper middle class families that existed before Castro, feel betrayed by the poor and working class. Like the present day many wealthy and upper middle class people are out of touch with struggling mainstream working class people. This resentment explains the Balart brothers, Mel Martinez and many other conservative Cubans who embrace the GOP despite the fact that the party supports racists.

Don't be fooled, this I am more conservative than you game the GOP is playing is only to fool the dumbest among the GOP to vote for Rubio. He is no fiscal conservative, but another republican elitist who will kill good government programs by de-funding them, then calling government programs a failure. However his local base of poor elderly Cubans will continue to get a few scraps of government cheese and upper middle class Cubans will be guaranteed a supply of illegal aliens as maids and cheap labor.

23. I agree with all of that but that is not what a fascist is...
A fascist like Hitler or Mussolini believes in corporatism under the control
of the central government. This Rubio dude believes in free for all capitalism
with NO CONTROLS from the central government. I am not sure what term defines him,
but it is not fascist.

2. It has to be by the April 30th deadline that he changes affiliations per another DU poster.
SO he needs to make up his mind soon.

6. Florida election law, gives about a 3 day qualifying window.
It may be April 30th this year. Two years ago it was in early May. You have to be filed and qualified by that date, by party, or even as a write-in. If not qualified by that date, even votes for a write-in candidate are not counted. Mickey Mouse won too many elections.

5. Shows how dumb the republicans are. BUT
maybe people like to be scammed out of taxpayer money. As much as Rubio took that credit card as his personal cash cow you would think they would be upset about it. And his surname being Rubio doesn't hurt. the republicans are playing up his spanish ancestry.

11. Kendrick Meek, who doesn't stand a chance.
Saw a poll a few weeks ago that indicated Crist could win as an Ind, which would be fine with me since it would keep teabagging Rubio out of the Senate.

10. Shows you how pathetic our party apparatus is
If Crist could just mosey on over and "become" a democrat and take the nomination. There should be a strong field of Dems for a Senate seat, for chrissakes!

If you run and lose in the primary you can't run in the fall as an Indy,

He could run in the Democratic primary or just run as a Indy.

15. I think his only shot is as and Indy.
I think that switching parties to get a clearer short at the november Ballot would really be boo'd. If meek is the nominee he has additional problemes gaining any traction with African American voters

17. Is it too late for him to run for governor again?
He's not term limited yet, but I don't know when he would have had to file.

I hope it is too late, because I really like Alex Sink and she'd have a much harder time against him than McCullum.
