US administration to block vote on Turkey 'genocide'
The Obama administration has said it will seek to block a controversial bill describing as genocide the World War I killing of Armenians by Turks.

A congressional panel on Thursday approved the resolution, paving the way for a possible vote by the House.

But US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said the administration would "work very hard" to prevent this.

1. Why is this still being blocked?
Every person that looks independently at this calls it what it is...genocide.

2. Because the US needs Turkey as a friend... It was so important, Pres Obama personally
stopped over. The ambassador of Turkey was called back when the congress brought up the resolution.

10. Turkey withdraws their ambassasdor every time someone sneezes.
They can't afford to close off relations with the US as much as they howl and threaten to, and they know it. They're just engaging in theatrics over it, because they can't arrest American legislators for saying a fact happened like they're willing to do with their own population.

6. The Armenian Genocide Occurred
However, the Ottoman Empire and last Sultan was couped by the "Young Turks" of the CPU who brought the Empire into the losing side of WWI, perpetuated the genocide, and lost the Empire. Modern Turkey rose from the ashes. Some prominent "Young Turks" were Donmeh. Some of the "Young Turks" responsible for the genocide were prosecuted for their war crimes (unlike 21st century USA).
