Will State of the Union Speech Push Back Lost Premiere?
Jan 6, 2010 06:05 PM ET

In the ultimate battle between our real and fantasy lives, Lost's final season premiere may be bumped by President Barack Obama's State of the Union address.

The White House is currently considering either Jan. 26 or Feb. 2 — the night of the premiere — for the State of the Union speech, The Wrap reports. Lost fans aren't exactly the most patient bunch, and a Twitter hash tag has already been started to protest the possible scheduling conflict, #NoStateofUnionFeb2.

The Obama administration hasn't decided on Feb. 2, the site reports. However, if officials do choose to take that major piece of primetime real estate, Lost may have to move its premiere until the following Tuesday, Feb. 9.

Of course, there's no pleasing everyone: The Jan. 26 date would interrupt an all-new episode of American Idol. The White House refused to comment on the scheduling matter.

2. Actually.. probably not...
I'm always amazed at the complete opposite views between "Fox" and "Fox News". One only has to watch The Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad, 24, etc.. to see that the regular network does not share it's news cousins conservative view... in fact I always laugh when I hear of Rethugs who want to boycott advertisers of regular Fox shows. Most of them are so clueless that they don't even realize that the same people run both networks. But, they also want to vote for Palin.. so why am I surprised?

9. Fox didn't air one of Obama's speeches last year, if memory serves me correct -
- but it was aired on Fox News. Hopefully, that's what they'll do this time. I'd hate to miss the first episode of the last season of LOST and I prefer to read transcribed SOTU and other speeches instead of watching them live.

5. Easterners
For a significant part of the country this isn't a problem: the State of the Union usually starts about 6PM and is over by 7. Plenty of time to get both in on an evening. The big problem when I was working was getting home in time to see the major speeches live.

People who write articles like this are the same type that call me at 6 AM and are astonished that I'm still in bed. Time zones? What are those?

7. He should do the State of the Union after Lost ends
and open his speech by offering some theories as to what's going to happen on the show in the next few weeks.

8. I couldn't care less about tv shows when
I could hear the reality of what Pres Obama has to say about SOTU.

10. Heres a crazy idea:
Don't air the State of the Union address, just air 'lost' instead. If somebody wants to watch the state of the union address, there are 20 channels to watch it on. If they want to watch lost, then air the show. If they want to watch both, they better get a TIVO or VCR.

As for me, I won't be watching either.

(Not that I care, but sadly, some people find that more important than healthcare or jobs).
