1. Good grief! I just put the article through the google translation tool, and I'm not surprised what
it said. What a confirmation reading this.

You can be 100% sure, struggle4progress you will probably NEVER SEE ONE WORD about these things in our own media, right? It just doesn't fit the image they've been projecting all these years about what's going on there. Feeling very much vindicated reading this,
and I know other Latin American watching Democrats would, as well.

Here's the google translation of the article for those of us who don't know Spanish:
Di Martino
Opposition is divided and the polls do not favor

Maracaibo, 9 Oct. ABN .- The candidate for governor of Zulia, the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (Psuv), Gian Carlo Di Martino said that "the opposition is not well, you have divisions and know that the polls do not favor."

In his view, the candidate for mayor of Maracaibo Manuel Rosales with his obvious defeat in the upcoming elections, has been given the task of creating violence in the streets of this capital.

In this regard, he added, "Rosales is obviously desperate in terms of numbers in the polls, which indicate that the opposition will lose in Zulia."

Di Martino explained that the plans of violence by the opposition, were evidenced in the recent actions of several students who led the University of Zulia (LUZ) at the headquarters of the newspaper Panorama, located in this capital, because they disagree with the information announced the newspaper, referring to the case of the president of the Federation of Student Center (FCU-LIGHT), Julio Soto.

It may be recalled that the leader of the Social Christian party Copei died of multiple gunshots, the 1st of this month, in the area on October 18 in this capital.

Di Martino urged citizens, especially the student community, to take calm, "as some students do not understand the violent actions carried out on radio stations and newspapers."

In this regard, he noted that "There is no basis for the claim to create a crisis in the city in the Punjab and elsewhere in Venezuela, is known because of similar attempts led by students in other cities, which have the same intention create destabilization. "

In that regard, he urged all citizens to continue on the principles of love, peace and solidarity, characteristics that distinguish Venezuelans.

"We must make the effort to maintain this atmosphere of joy and peace," he said.

Referring to the assassination of the leader who lives outside of Copei, said the findings "are quite advanced and are already identified by the authors of the crime."

At the same time, he noted that the relevant authorities conducting investigations to locate the masterminds of the act.

That is why we found the candidate for mayor of Maracaibo Manuel Rosales "is a madman, (...) is irresponsible, because advances views that threaten the peace and tranquility of the people."

In his view, create a crisis and create confusion in the university sector in the wake of the death of the student Soto is totally irresponsible. Therefore, he said "The authorities must open an inquiry (Rosales) for inciting public violence.
This is really, REALLY important. Thank you.

2. Really important, yes, I agree. Zulia may well be a Bushwhack target.
And if they have any more "shock and awe" to inflict, in what is, hopefully, their waning months as tyrants, instigating a fascist secessionist plot (a la Bolivia) in Zulia--Venezuela's biggest oil state, located on the Caribbean, adjacent to Colombia--and bringing the U.S. 4th Fleet into it, along with Colombia military/paramilitary forces, U.S. special forces, Blackwater and local fascist militias, could be their dreadful swansong.

It could also be a long term plan--a private corporate resource war, using the billions they have stolen from us, and mercenary armies they have created at our expense, to overthrow Zulia and split it off from Venezuela, and possibly trap Obama into supporting it (the way the CIA and the Miami mafia tried to trap JFK into the "Bay of Pigs" invasion of Cuba in his first months in office).

In the last election (06), Rosales, governor of Zulia, then opposition candidate for president against Chavez, was obliged to publicly disavow a fascist plot, hatched in the Colombian military, to assassinate Chavez and overthrow the Venezuelan government. This was the plot that got all of Latin America roused up to start resisting U.S. interference in their countries. Its exposure put Rosales on the spot, and he had to distance himself from it. But that doesn't mean he isn't deeply involved in fascist plotting, on an on-going basis, and in the current situation (USAID 'trained' rightwing student thugs trying to destabilize Zulia).

It's also interesting that Rosales and the right is polling poorly (as to the upcoming by-elections). They are known to be allied with the Bushwhacks, whose insane looting has now caused a global crash, and very likely Great Depression II. Venezuela is doing very well, in this financial meltdown, due to the policies and forethought of the Chavez government, which protected Venezuela's financial institutions and economy, and has big cash reserves. In fact, Venezuela could be one of the few countries that lands on its feet. Being associated with Bushwhacks, these days, is political poison. Venezuela has also helped other South American countries to get out from under World Bank/IMF and G-7 control, with the creation of institutions like the Bank of the South, and pay-off's of debt. Argentina, Bolivia and others are in much better shape because of this. Brazil--whose president is a friend and ally of Chavez--is also doing well. The South American "Common Market" that they've formed (UNASUR) could end up a world economic/political powerhouse, after all is said and done, in the Bushwhacks' final looting and induced Depression.

And how totally ironic--and how sweet--that will be! The Corpo/fascists wanted to "drown government in the bathtub," in order to have a worldwide sharkfest of the rich eating the poor--but the upshot may be the opposite: the triumph of socialism, or, rather, the triumph of mixed economies and good government, with strong democratic control over "organized money" (as FDR called it).

Anyway, among the bloody fiascos that the Bushwhacks may still have in mind, grabbing Zulia and its oil, and trying to create a leftist-free zone in the Caribbean/Central America, could well be the second "October Surprise."

3. Info. surfaces in this article which indicates the opposition students are trying to intimidate
a newspaper in Zulia which is investigating the murder of Julius Soto. This shows a level of organization you would not expect to see, ordinarily:
Patrick J. O'Donoghue's round up of news from Venezuela -- October 8, 2008

~snip~
Communication & Information (Minci) Minister Andres Izarra calls the Inter American Press Association one of the biggest aggressors of freedom of expression. The Minister questions the final declaration of the organisation that has held an annual meeting in Madrid. Speaking on State television, Izarra says that while the opposition media make groundless accusations against the Venezuelan state and its democracy, They are the biggest perpetrators and aggressors of freedom of expression in Venezuela.

Izarra points to the threats against Maracaibo-based broadsheet, "Panorama" by what he calls neo-fascist groups. Spain's King Juan Carlos also comes under fire for allowing himself to be photographed with what Izarra dubs "gangsters and their political allies" who are preventing a newspaper from circulating in Zulia State. The Venezuelan government guarantees free circulation of the media, the Minister contends, and rounds off his attack by saying he is waiting to see how the National College of Journalists (CNP) and other phantom NGOs financed by the National Endowment for Democracy and the CIA will respond to the attack on Panorama.

The National College of Journalists (CNP) has condemned the attack by opposition students on Panorama, calling for "consideration and dialogue" because Panorama is fulfilling its role in informing citizens and following up the story behind the death of Julio Soto. El Nacional publisher/editor, Miguel Henrique Otero calls Minister Izarra a lackey and claims Izarra is scared of Chavez.

Zulia Street broadsheet, Panorama was subject to a threatening protest by opposition groups who tried to stop trucks from distributing copies of the newspaper. Two buses from the University of Zulia were used to transport the protesters to the newspaper's building. According to Communication & Information Minister, Andres Izarra, the newspaper has been investigating the death of opposition student leader, Julio Soto and his alleged business relations with mafia groups connected to the sale of student bus discount tickets

~~~~~~~~~~~
IF these opposition members hands' were clean, they would want the killers of their fellow LUZ member to be uncovered whether by the police or an ivestigation by a newspaper.
