Venezuela's President welcomes Peruvian counterpart

Venezuela's President Hugo Chávez welcome on Friday afternoon Peruvian President-elect Ollanta Humala who, together with his wife, is visiting Caracas for the first time after his election.

Both presidents met at Miraflores presidential palace, government-run news agency AVN reported.

"Welcome, brother. In these days, waging a new battle, your visit is still more strengthening," Chávez told his counterpart.

The Peruvian Head of State wished the Venezuelan President prompt recovery. "You must accomplish a mission with your people."
