A Colombian court has ruled that victims of illegal wiretapping carried out by Colombia's intelligence agency DAS will not be allowed to directly interrogate former President Alvaro Uribe, reported newspaper El Espectador Thursday.

According to the judges, the request was denied because the victims filed the request before the court without waiting for the answer to the same request of the congressional Accusations Commission, the body in charge of the wiretap investigation against the former president.

The ruling stated that " find that the prosecution being conducted by the Accusations Commission as pending to resolve the request. In other words, the Commission should have been able to analyze the challenge initially and then had time to study the request of the possibility that victims may be able to question the president."

Uribe is being investigated for his alleged role in the illegal wiretapping of Supreme Court magistrates and political opponents.
